What would it take to make your desk at work, a MEGAdesk?

Asked by Captain_Fantasy (11447points) March 12th, 2010 from iPhone

This is a concept brought to life by Dwight Schrute from The Office who took three separate desks at work and combined them together to make a single massive MEGADESK. Dwight’s megadesk features 3 different computers. One each for work, surveillance and gaming.

It seems to me that the megadesk is a fluid idea which is only limited by the imagination of the architect.

So how would you design your megadesk?

For those of you who haven’t witnessed the MEGADESK yet, here it is.

I’m dead for ideas right now. Pretty depressing actually.

A Starbuck’s coffee and hot chocolate dispenser, a mini-fridge, INSTALLED! Haha a cool revolving rack for my binders :) Only the most amazing pens, ever, a computer with a 64’ TV screen as its monitor, a laptop! Also, an amazing loungable chair to relax in that still looks professional so the boss-man won’t get mad… (or jealous) :D

And one more thing: The robot maid off The Jetsons to do all my work for me!

My megadesk will require a space for a portable stereo, a small reading library, and 3 a monitor array. One monitor will be for leisure.
There will also be a makeshift aboretum and a coffee maker.

All of this + a $10,000 Napster card.

And that. What a lazy arse I am!

People just don’t seem to understand that the most important thing is the chair, and not it’s ergonomics, it needs to roll across and around the floor, to spin, to do these things as if rolling on ball bearings made by mad elves or fairies. It has to be adjusted to the perfect height to allow you to pedal it from here to there, all around almost effortlessly. You can make whatever kind of megadesk you want, but if your chair is not up to the task, if it doesn’t allow you to access all the features of you megadesk without having to strain yourself in any way, without having to reach, without having to, god forbid, stand up and get out of your chair, then your megadesk, no matter what bells and whistles it has, if not worth the trouble, IMHO.
