Have you a family member however distant, that makes you cringe, feel uncomfortable around?

A distant cousin or an uncle perhaps.Someone who could be construed as the black sheep of the family. Or just simply someone who embarrasses you &/or the rest of the family? You may be polite but are relieved when they leave or even rarely if at all speak with them.

Yes. An uncle. I refuse to acknowledge that I am related to him.

My brother-in-law. He’s a bit off-kilter.

My mother is painful to be around, but luckily she is physically quite distant from me. She is often very embarrassing, lies a lot, and can be unpredictable with her emotions.

I don’t enjoy being around my uncle, her brother, either. We rarely saw him when I was growing up, and from the time I was in grade school until I was in my late 20’s I didn’t see him at all. When I finally saw him again at my mother’s wedding, he asked me for money.

Also, my husband has an aunt who thinks the entire world is against her. She takes everything as a personal insult, and so I don’t really enjoy being around her. She creates too much drama and conflict, and we don’t have much contact with her outside of large family functions. Even then, she sometimes doesn’t come because she is always having a feud with one of her siblings.

My father. It took me years to not see his face when I looked in the mirror. The longer I am away from him, the better.

Almost all of them – I don’t know how I sprung up among these people.

Aside from a few members of my immediate family, the rest are cringe-worthy and I avoid them at all costs.
