How to write a good essay on Positive Classroom Climate?

Asked by cornbird (1750points) April 3rd, 2010

In psychology I have to write an essay on developing a positive classroom climate. Can anyone out there give me some tips on writing a really good essay, it is for end of year exams at my university. Also can anyone give me some tips on scoring high on the multiple choice exam. It is 30 multiple choice items and the topics range from cognitive theories of motivation to behavioural theories.

If you’re at the end of the year at your university, shouldn’t you already know how to write an essay?

I would start the essay by thinking about my own philosophies on building a positive classroom climate. Then I’d research, and see what the experts have to say. Start with a strong introductory paragraph or two, and go from there.
As for the test- study. For multiple choice questions, you can usually eliminate one or two options, and narrow it down to the right answer. Also, study.

Don’t suggest too many changes to the conventional shit in your essay. Kiss the ass of the institution’s ways, while suggesting some possibly helpful but very comfortable changes. “The instructor should start each class off with a smile and a greeting.” “If there’s a conflict between two students that breaks out in class, the instructor should respect the students’ privacy, but if possible resolve or otherwise nullify the conflict in front of the class. This shows competence and compatibility in the classroom dynamic.” blah blah blah

Those are more just tips and not things you could fill an essay with, but you understand. Your graders will eat it up as long as you keep the suggestions easy for them to think about. Don’t question the conventions.

Jot down your points/thinking and start developing what you want to say in the essay. Then put it into a logical, orderly outline that you will follow. Once you know exactly what you want to say and in what order you want to say it, start typing a rough draft. Start revising and editing the rough draft, doing it as many times as you need until you feel like your essay is perfect.
