How do you gain access to "Verizon Surround"?

Asked by redsfan1324 (184points) April 26th, 2010

I’ve been trying to start using ESPN 360 (Now ESPN3). When I try to create an account, it asks for my internet provider, and I answer Verizon. It then asks me for my “Verizon Surround” account log in info. The weird thing is, I have NEVER heard of Verizon Surround in the history of my usage of Verizon. On the Verizon web site, there is not accessible information about this mysterious “Verizon Surround” thing. I try entering my normal “MyVerizon” info, but it’s not what the site is looking for. Has anyone else had this problem?

looks like it is an entertainment site for Verizon that you register for is what I found about it.

I had the same problem. Verizon’s web sites are very confusing. I believe Verizon Surround is now Verizon Central.

I have found that there are two separate accounts: verizon.com (your ‘My Verizon’ account) is for bill paying and adding services, while verizon.net is for using those services.

If you’re in your My Verizon account on verizon.com, you can find along the top bar a “My Verizon” menu. In that menu there’s a link to Verizon Central & Email.

The username you set up in Verizon Central will log you into ESPN3.

If you’re able to log into your Home Media Manager DVR, then that username is a verizon.net (and Verizon Central) user name – it works at ESPN3.

so i recently switched to the new MiFi wireless hotspot product that Verizon offers. Is there anyway to gain access to ESPN3 with this? As far as I can tell, there is not.

Today is 09/11/2010 and I just spent over an hour on the phone with Verizon trying to get the same question answered. I was disconnected twice and passed around at least 4 times, but I finally got the answer:

Verizon Surround = Verizon Central. Verizon.com is exclusively for wireless users, while Verizon.net is exclusively for people with residential service, which includes landline phones, high speed internet (HSI), and FiOS. Verizon Surround/Central is for people with residential HSI service through Verizon, NOT for people with wireless service. Unfortunately, this includes those of us using Verizon broadband for internet access. In other words, Verizon wireless customers can NOT access the games on ESPN3; only residential HSI and FiOS users can.

Hope this helps.

I have not heard of Verizon Surround either. Today I happened upon it and hope that all goes well. Love to get sports shows.
