Suggestions for a red wine that is a rival to CLIO, but at a lower price?

Love the wine, don’t like the price. Looking for alternatives if you know of any

I’m not sure what CLIO is like but Jacob’s Creek Shiraz Cabernet is fantastic and pretty cheap.

Make your own. I don’t like not being able to find a decent bottle for a decent price with the taste I want.

Granted I have had a few failures, but they usually end up making better vinegar than I can get in the store. So it is usually a win win.

Gran Sangre de Toro.

Have you checked Snooth.com?

I’m not familiar with that particular label, but a cursory search shows that it’s a Spanish monastrell from the Jumilla region. (Jumilla’s primary grape is Monastrell or Mouvedre as the French call it.)
There are lots of inexpensive Monastrell blends from Jumilla. Try looking for Luzon Verde (organic!) or ask your wine shop for a Mouvedre from Jumilla.
You might also like Spanish grenache or Garnacha as they call it.
A similar style wine is Malbec. South America does this well.
Happy imbibing.

Two buck Chuck at Trader Joe’s

“Two Buck Chuck” recently won a blind tasting competition against a large number of competitors. For more about blind tastings and their sometimes surprising results see http://www2.potsdam.edu/hansondj/Controversies/20060517115643.html

Perhaps, but it’s nothing like the wine described in the question.
