My pictures won't show up when I plug in my memory stick. Help!

Asked by Seth (302points) June 15th, 2010

When I try to access the pictures on my memory stick, (this kind: http://bit.ly/bAChMG) they won’t show up. It doesn’t matter whether I’m using a card reader, or just plugging the camera straight into the computer (which is a MacBook Pro). I’ve tried using a different computer and a different cord, but neither attempt worked. Here’s where it gets weird… it happened to 3 DIFFERENT memory sticks!!! I’m thinking that it has to be something the camera is doing to them… but I’m not sure. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I’ve had the exact same problem, and this isn’t an answer to your question, but I don’t think its the card its something mac-y. What eventually worked for me was formatting the card IN THE MAC and then using it in the camera. Granted, that won’t get your pictures off, it will delete all of your pictures in fact, but it might work moving forward ;-P

A friend had a similar problem, the device showed up but didn’t show any pics, just the camera identification and another file. So if you double click on the camera file, then click on the files inside that, she found her pics.

Not a very scientific explanation, but that is what she did and it worked.
