Is this an insect bite?

Asked by CupcakesandTea (353points) June 17th, 2010

I have a slightly raised white bump on my left shoulder. It tingles and burns a little and when I touch it it is very tender. I have no idea where it came from. Spider bite perhaps?

Hmm, could be a mosquito bit you scrathed a lot during your sleep, I’ve had that happen.

How big is this white bump? Penpoint? 3 millimeters? Is it red around the white bump?

Is there a red or yellow colored halo around the bump?

Ya obviously.

It could be an ingrown hair…are you seeing any little holes?

spider bites always have two holes for the fangs. If you look at the area immediately after getting bitten, you have the best chance of seeing the holes. Otherwise, they can heal over, or erode to where you can’t see them anymore.
