Do you unzip the window of your convertible before putting the top down?

Asked by majorrich (14741points) June 24th, 2010

Picked up a project car and while looking it over I unlatched the top and began to unzip the rear window. He Exclaimed He never unzips the rear window when putting the top down. I remember I had a full sized (1972 Delta 88) convertible that had a glass window and no way to unzip it. This is my first small car convertible. The window seems ok so it must not hurt anything. What do you guys do?

I had a Fiat Spyder with a plastic rear window. When I put the top down, I would carefully fold the window in so there was a bend but not a sharp crease in it. I did not unzip it.

I have someone who puts my top down for me. I don’t know what she does.

I only have experience with one convertible. I always unzipped and stowed the plastic rear window on Meg’s TR3A (it also had side curtains to deal with).

I have had a couple of different convertibles and I have always unzipped the window before putting the top down. I did it because I assumed it would get a big crease in it if I didn’t. But I never tried it so maybe I was wrong?????
