Is it somewhat odd that I write love haikus for the girl that I've liked since 5th grade?

Asked by Vincent_Lloyd (3007points) July 10th, 2010

Asking this since I liked (feels more like I’ve “loved” her) Amber for 3 to almost 4 years now. She’s liked me for about the same time also. But I always write love/romance haiku’s to….express my love towards her…I don’t think it’s a creepy thing to do in my opinion (That would be stalking) since it’s not like I’m finding out where she lives or anything like that….But I know that one of my friends that is her friend also told her some of my haiku’s (more like ALL of them but I don’t mind) and she thought good things on them, was flattered about it, and she thought it was sweet that I do that. Anyways… Just wondering, bad thing…good thing? (nothing offensive. Please)

I think it’s adorable.

Poe – one of the darkest Gothic suspense/mystery writers ever – was well-known for writing Acrostics in honour of the women in his life.

True romantics are becoming fewer and fewer these days. I say we cherish the ones we have now. ^_^

I’ll underscore what @Seek_Kolinahr just wrote. It’s wonderful that you’re so expressive. I would imagine your unfolding life to be passionate and meaningful.

Keep on doin’ what you’re doin’. She sounds like a sweet girl, as well. But, then, I would expect you to have good taste.

It is never an ‘odd’ or ‘bad thing’ to let your heart express itself.

I think it’s sweet and it will be one of those things that people in your life cherish in time. I love rereading the things my husband has written for me over the years.

Keep going with it and don’t worry about what others think about you doing it.

As a man, I too think it is sweet and romantic and admirable.

It is great to see a young man who communicates his feelings poetically and in writing.
She is a lucky girl to be so admired and cared about.
I hope she appreciates you and what you do.

As long as both of you are okay with it, I see nothing wrong about that. As a matter of fact, I think it’s very sweet of you, as it shows that you have a good deal of sensitivity and conscience. The fact that Amber acknowledges your kindness to her reveals that she appreciates the long-standing relationship you have with her, and that she respects your feelings for her. I don’t think it’s “odd” at all——it’s nice to see guys express their love in such creative ways. As a man, I would do the same. And haiku, with its simple elegance, has the potential to convey what your heart feels in the clearest and deepest way.
