When is a good time to post your question on Fluther?

Asked by AmWiser (14947points) July 21st, 2010

When asking questions on fluther, how long after you post your question do you actually follow it at the time you post? For example, I post a question, but I have to leave my computer for a few hours to run errands or whatever. My question is should I wait and post the question when I know I have time (at least and hour) to watch it in case I need to comment on a comment?

How do you Fluther?
Okay, so I asked this question, but I’m on my way out and will not be back for about 4 hours.

I usually post a question when I have some time to stick around and see what happens. Occasionally, if I am impatient to get it out there but have to go out, I will post it, leave and then come back to the “goodies.”

As for time of the week or day, it is hit or miss, but Friday afternoons seem to be optimal right now.

I booboo all the time since I have no recognizable “morning” or “night”—just as my whimsy takes me. I may post a question at 5 am and putter around making coffee while i wait for replies [which is what i try to do, whatever time it is] or I may post, become exhausted and crash and wake up to find the topic grazed and abandoned because I was not there. And whatever transpires later, the topic will always be a bit stale because the first rush was missed.

I prefer to ask when I will be there to follow the response in the thread.

I usually fluther in spurts or 10–15 minutes here and there when I have time. It is helpful to the other members if you are available right away to answer questions they might have in order to help you, but it really doesn’t matter. Fluther how you want. There are no rules. :)

I think it’s probably optimal if you’re around for a while when you post a question, but I never seem to manage it. I almost always end up asking one right before I go to sleep or leave the house. :|

When I am randomly browsing I check every 10 minuites or so, and I’ll check after watching a movie or TV show online, and then randomly when I am bored during the day.

None of my questions are time-sensitive and the frontpage moves so slowly most people will see it. I ask whenever. I’m not here to argue so I just want answers and not to debate.

I ask when I think of something, or when I feel like “chatting” about something. Because of the huge time difference with most of the jellies, I don’t bother to think about when to ask it. Most of them are crappy questions anyway, so it doesn’t matter.

@zenele I think that was the best answer ever for this question, especially the crap part. Mods, can you post his answer in the guidelines?
