Have you ever stolen someone else's design?

Asked by stephen (351points) March 22nd, 2008

its really sorry to say there was one time i really did that! that time i must make a design work and i found another one pic that is not mine on a resource site,that was really good for my design so i used it and just changed a little in my illustrator!
everybody thought that was my original idea but i always worried what if someone else found the truth one day? and also i feel really shame to do that! i wont do that stupid thing again!

I used to look for family photos online to use as stock photography for publications. I don’t remember, though if I found any worth using.

When I was in high school i was stupid enough to volunteer myself to maintain the school’s marching band website, even though I didn’t know anything more than basic html and was using AOLpress to do the editing. I had saw a neat layout that i didn’t think the author wouldn’t mind having copied, and copied the html file. Everything else i changed, but the basic tables layout and code i couldn’t use myself was borrowed.

It took about a week before I got a legalese threat.
Looking back, that was pretty douchebaggish on both our parts. Simply asking it to take it down to a 15 year old should have sufficed. It scared the crap out of me.

Never. Inspired by other’s designs all the time – but not to the point of theft.

Truth is, I usually only steal ideas, and concepts. But I twist and turn them and the original idea turns out to be an inspiration.

@stephen
The quote you mean? It was sorta a joke. Pablo Picasso was actually the original say..-er. And if you wanna know, I say I’m Canadian.
