What did Osama Bin Laden do to become public enemy number one?

I really don’t understand his involvement in the attacks. How did it go down?

He is the leader of al qaeda, the group responsible for the 9/11 attacks as well as many other terrorist incidents worldwide.

What exactly are you confused about?

cowboyBob64's avatar

He targeted the USA as a terrorist.

filmfann's avatar

He chose the target and the weapon for 9–11. 3000 dead.

So how instrumental was he in the plan? The mastermind or what?

talljasperman's avatar

@Ltryptophan the news said he used his $30 million inheritance to finance the attacks

Not a fucking word about 9/11. How queer.

@kevbo Apparently he was greatly involved in the attack. “I am the one in charge of the nineteen brothers.” This must be an out-of-date page.

Note to the FBI: Typing in all caps promotes better readability and use of the English language. :) ~

@kevbo Yup. On the bottom of the page: “June 1999 – Poster Revised November 2001”. He was not known to have been involved in the attack at that time. (I don’t think.)

Yeah, that makes perfect sense. They must have forgotten to update the page.

I really didn’t know he made any claim of responsibility until I asked this question…it’s sad. I’ve just been guessing he’s guilty all this time. I mean…everyone seemed well pissed off at him for this whole affair, I assumed he must be quite quilty.

I still haven’t checked that 19 brothers quote out. I don’t know if it is an accurate translation…something that was forced or what. Or even worse the act of an opportunist taking credit for something he didn’t do.

Along with all those other attacks he claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack on the USS Cole.
