I don’t believe in luck, so no. I also don’t think I would wear anyone’s name on my skin, though.

It is if you break up with that someone.

Personally, I think it’s tacky, unless it’s the name of your child or spouse. I have a buddy that has “Your Name” Tattooed on her butt ;P

I don’t think anything is bad luck. Or good luck. Unwise, now, that’s a different question.

I don’t think it’s bad luck, but I do think it’s dumb. People are fickle, and I’ll leave it at that.

How is this bad luck? If anything (n the traditional sense of tattooing) it would make you closer to the person.

Deja_vu's avatar

To think it’s bad luck is kind of silly. Like @Randy said: People are fickle.

I don’t think its bad luck, I just think it’s not a good idea.

I don’t think it bad luck. Go for it. Be prepared to regret it in case of a divorce.
Kids names is a cool idea or memorial tattoes is special.

Financially, it’s a bad decision. If you decide to have it removed when the relationship ends, it will cost you about $2,500.

Not bad luck – more tempting fate.

I don’t have tattoos on my body, but a name should not change anything.

It’s not bad luck, it’s just stupid.

I’m on the “it’s just dumb” wagon.

With the exception, of course, for children’s names and memorial tattoos. I’m planning on having an Ogham done of my son. ^_^

I think it’s BETTER luck not to have anything tattooed on.

vote for that Mr. Austinlad!

Not bad luck, exactly, but imagine poor Johnny Depp. “Winona Forever”, he had tatted, but alas! Such was not to be. He had to go and get it changed when they broke up. It now says “Wino Forever”. Seeing that he lives in France, that’s probably an accurate assessment of his current situation.

Lesson: If you’re going to get a tat of someone’s name, make sure it’s easily chageable at a later date to a beverage or foodstuff.

I don’t think it’s bad luck. I haven’t gotten anyone’s name tattooed on me because I’m into more complex tattoos but even if I did and then we’d break up, nothing would change – I’d love the tattoo.

curlyz's avatar

I don’t believe it’s a bad luck..if that’s what you want and it makes you happy then go for it.

Pied_Pfeffer's avatar

I don’t believe it is bad luck either. In addition, that goes for being good luck. And I hope that you aren’t asking about it for yourself…at least while you pregnant, and possibly nursing.

downtide's avatar

Not bad luck, just silly. Tattoos are for life, very few relationships last that long. The only names I think anyone should have tattooed are of their children or parents. You can’t divorce them.

Mom2BDec2010's avatar

I already have my fiance’s name tattooed on me, I’ve had it since before I got pregnant. Everyone in my family is like “Its bad luck” blah blah. I just wanted to hear opinions on the matter.

emeraldisles's avatar

if i got a tattoo i wouldn’t want to do someone’s name. no way.

downtide's avatar

I don;t think it causes bad luck. I just think that if you tattoo a boyfriend or girlfriend’s name on you, you’re going to regret it sooner or later.
