Is chewing ice bad for you?

Its bad for your teeth from what I have heard, weakens the enamel.

The biting pressure needed to break ice is more than what teeth are actually capable of withstanding, so they can break. Often, people will break off pieces of their teeth while crunching ice and wind up chewing the piece of their broken tooth without even realizing it!

Although I love chewing ice this all makes sense to me. Next time I am going to be more cautious.

my father had a very
unpleasant dentist visit because of it.

Yep. My teeth are ultra sensitive to this day because of a childhood nervous habit of crunching ice.
