There was some mini series on television in the 80’s wherein terrorists attack the US, including shooting a bazooka at the US Capitol, shattering the dome. I can’t remember the name.

Well, back then terrorism was primarily going on in places like Paris, and this was imagining what it would be like if terrorist started attacking the USA. I remember another scene where a guy was walking down the street tossing hand grenades into one cafe after another. Obviously it was well before 9/11 and all that.
