Ladies, don't you honestly look better without make up on?

Asked by ZEPHYRA (21750points) December 23rd, 2010

Are there times when you notice that you look better and younger without your make up, or would you not even be seen dead without it?

I honestly don’t know, I haven’t worn make-up in over 20 years. I hate the way it feels.

Well, I never wear make up anyway. But I do look younger without it, though at my age that’s not always a good thing, because I’ve been told that I look like I should still be in high school. But wearing make up is too much of a hassle anyway, and I agree with @JilltheTooth , it feels gross.

I feel fine without it. Makeup causes me to breakout, so I would rather not deal with stuff that’s suppose to me pretty make me ugly after use. Plus I don’t have the time.

I look better with a touch of make-up, but I look pretty good without it so I usually do not bother.

I generally don’t wear makeup at all except for a little bit of concealer on a few red areas if I need it. Sometimes do, sometimes don’t. I will wear a little bit of mascara for Xmas, because all of the women in my family wear make up most of the time. Don’t like to stand out like a sore thumb. I stopped with the black eyeliner all around the eyes some time in the 80’s. That looks kind of cute on teenagers, but not on anyone older than that. Most of the jobs I’ve had were highly physical and kind of male dominated and makeup would have not only looked silly, it would have been sweated off and smeared all over the place.

I do. It was hard for me to type that but its true. I look better with a bit of rouge and mascara.

I know I look better with makeup. I don’t generally wear a whole lot, though – what you see in my avatar is about as made up as I get (except sometimes a little lip colour on special occasions).

I definitely look better with makeup. I don’t see how any woman wouldn’t unless they were applying it incorrectly or using bad product.

The times that Iv’e told that to my daughters!!

Oh, god no. I look much better with a bit of cover up foundation, lippy and mascara. Age has taken its toll and I don’t like everyone to see what I’ve paid.

Gads no! The foundation smooths out my skin tone, a little blush for color and the eyeliner brings out that there are eyes behind the spectacles. I only bother with it on special occasions though, because I prefer sleep to make-up on work days.

No, I have the hereditary misfortune of having very dark circles under my eyes. If not for concealer, I’d spend my life trying to convince people I haven’t been weeping profusely or been hit in the eye.

Hell no. I look like death warmed over without a little something on my face. Plus, I’m naturally blonde, so I look like I don’t have any eyelashes without mascara.
I also have the very dark undereye circles that @diavolobella mentioned. The last time I remember going out without makeup on, the clerk (a stranger) told me that I looked “really tired.”

I could count on one hand the number of times I wear makeup each year, but I know that I do look nicer with it on. My cheeks and nose are a little red so the tinted moisturizer I use evens out my skin tone. Plus, even though I get compliments on my eyes w/o any makeup, they really look awesome with a bit of shadow and eye liner.

Not really. I look very young without makeup. I’m talking 15 or 16, and I’m 22. I already look young for my age, I don’t like emphasizing that even more by going without makeup. I also have a little discoloration, so foundation helps even it out. I never wear lipstick because I hate how it feels, but I love wearing liner and mascara. I think my eyes are my best feature, so I like playing them up and I always get compliments on them. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting to wear makeup if it makes you feel more comfortable and confident, which it does for me.

If I wear makeup, it’s usually a very little amount. I will say that I put on mascara and lip gloss, almost daily. I don’t have great eyelashes after chemo

If I feel the need to wear it, I’m pretty conservative about it – it just overwhelms my face. Less is more, especially on me!

I would prefer not to wear makeup but I have rosacea and I need it to cover up the red.

In the summer I never wear makeup. Once I get a bit of a tan, my skin is very even and stops breaking out. I love it. But in the winter, I get red is a single gust of wind blows on my face, and it tends to linger. And red does not look good. Also I break out more, my face gets really dry….all of which are unattractive. I don’t wear a ton of makeup, but just a little to even it out. I’d rather not though.

I look a lot better with some make-up. I’m not exactly a natural beauty. Although I love my fair skin and light eyes, I tend to look washed out with no make up at all. I usually just use mascara, chapstick and a little brown eyeliner.

Hell no. I look very pale without makeup. I wear moisturizer with sunscreen (which will help with wrinkles and discoloration when i’m older, plus the application of is like a little daily facial massage), eyeliner on top lid only, eye shadow and mascara. rare occasions blush and lipstick (i should wear lipstick every day, to moisturize, but i usually forget). i thnk makeup enhances the way i look, and i think in the work place, a woman looks more polished with makeup on.

If you’re talking about makeup being foundation stuff then yes, I look better without a layer of colored chalk/greasepaint. I wore it for costuming up at nightclubs but that’s about it. I see that it makes fine lines and wrinkles stand out a whole lot more on women’s faces than the benefit it’s supposed to lend in evening out skin tone.

It depends. Sometimes, I do and sometimes I don’t. Granted, my make up is mascara and some powder, that’s all (unless I’m going to Tango). I look younger without make up.

OpryLeigh's avatar

I don’t wear much makeup anyway but I do find that a simple touch of mascara makes my eyes look brighter. Heavy makeup doesn’t look great on me though.

I look good without makeup!!!.... Honestly… I’ve had facials since I was 16, and I use alot of moisturizer and I swear by Olay products. I love makeup, but I could leave home without it. My skin tone is even and I naturally have long eyelashes and big lips, and my eyebrows are nicely shaped.
