Do the dead engage in nostalgia about their past life?

Asked by saint (3975points) September 18th, 2011

Or do they forget about it and party on in Heaven or where ever?

If there is a heaven then I’d say they, of course, ponder their former lives.

Read The Stupidest Angel, by Christopher Moore. That’ll answer your questions.

Not nostalgia, just reconnection as people show up.

Talking Heads told it best:

The band in Heaven that plays my favorite song
Play it once again, play it all night long

In my opinion, the dead do not engage in anything but decomposition.

Once you die, you do not exist. There’s no way to think or care about anything at that point.

I don’t think the one’s who took their own lives would want to talk about it much. Only a guess.

Of course they are nostalgic. We are nostalgic now about our former lives now with the people we met in past lives.
Even Zombies wax nostalgically about the apocalypse, humor, brain freezes, etc…

Yes, I imagine it would be a very big part of our ghostly existence would be reminiscing, at least for the first hundred years or so. (That is assuming we become ghosts. I’m not sure I believe that, but it is fun to think about.)

Only for the first 100 years.

If “Heaven” did exist, I’d think they’d be living it up more often than looking back.
If you were a ghost on the other hand, I’d imagine you’d do nothing but think about your past life.

Maybe they sit on a cloud playing their harp singing a song like “Gosh, i’ll never eat meat again!”

Dead is dead in my book.

GQ. The answer is that none of us still living knows. The atheists assume that life, or our spirit, is done once we take our last breath. The theists have all sorts of beliefs depending upon their religion. If there is such a thing as ghosts or spirits, I suspect that they have a degree of nostalgia about their previous life; otherwise, they wouldn’t haunt a particular location. The idea of a party is a good one though. :)
