How do you clean clothes that have makeup stains?

Asked by Gabby101 (2950points) July 22nd, 2012

I always get stains on the front of my white pullover camis or tanks right in front of the neck (where a necklace might hit, if I wore one) – a yellowed stain like you might expect from sweat, but I believe it’s either makeup or my SPF lotion. I use Tide with Borox and also apply Shout to the specific area, but the stains don’t come out. I think they gradually get worse and worse, until they are noticeable and the the shirts have to be replaced. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the stains out?

They’re white…do you use bleach?

They are white, but not 100% cotton, so I’m afraid the spandex will yellow.

Oxyclean!!! Make a paste with warm water, mash it on there, wait till it dries, brush it off. I know the guy who did the ads was annoying, but the stuff is great.

Get Grandma’s Best Spot Remover. It’s expensive, but it works. Removes set in blood and many other stains. You can get it at Hobby Lobby at the fabric counter usually, or online anytime.

Or try Fells Naptha Soap. http://www.compare99.com/compare.html?q=buy-fels-naptha&ort=Fels-Naptha-Soap-Sale&adid=iaCkp56oyJ2lYK%2FD06WalI610pKiWdDNoHeXn9SPsZKip8nDkIShlNGI1m6ZlNbViZSalNOf0qWamNM%3D&gclid=CIOAhNOjrrECFQeR7QodIxgAgg You can buy it in many stores or online.
Between those two I think you’ll get it out.

Well, I wash the clothes in the sink first to kinda “warm it up” for a wash in the washer. Then, I put it in the washer. If the stain isn’t gone, I use Oxy Clean or something like that. I’m sure that this will work. I also hoped this helped! Good luck. ^^
P.S. Oxy Clean is really good!!!!!
PPS. I didn’t copy the guys above me. I promise you! I use Oxy Clean all the time. I buy mine from Safeway or Albertsons.
