Does smiling large make your ears get wet?

Asked by Dutchess_III (46842points) April 12th, 2013

Re this neat story about the elderly lady who was in a coma for 5 years. Her first words when she came out of it were “I want to go to a Bob Seager concert.” Well, Seger visited her at the hospital. Gave her a hug. ”“I never thought I would ever see this day,” Branan said while smiling so large her ears were getting wet.”

Would do you think it would be like to wake up from a coma after 5 years? What’s the first thing you’d ask for? And would your ears get wet right off the bat?

What the hell does smiling have to do with wet ears?

euphemism?

@syz I’m just quoting the article! Probably what it’s referring to is that her cheeks were wet with tears, and she was grinning so big her cheeks touched her ears. However, I have been practicing and I can’t smile big enough for my cheeks to touch my ears!
It was kind of a dumb statement, but it certainly caught my attention.

You know you’re trying it too!

Back in my stoner days I wrote a song with the lyrics, “I have tears in my ears from crying on my back.” I think that answers your question @syz

^^ You wrote that song? It’s one of my favorites since 1950 or so.. . .in my bed as I cry over you. You don’t look that old.

@Sunny2, I don’t know that one. Then again, I was stoned.

when you’re on about her ‘ears getting wet’ are you talking about her lady flaps down under? or am i just a filthy horrible person?

@Judi I was just finishing the lyrics: “I got tears in my ears from lying on my back in my bed as I cry over you” is the first line of the song. Maybe you heard it when you were stoned and “remembered” that you wrote it. Whatever. It’s a great song.
