Are there any good haunted houses/pumpkin patches in the Bay Area?

Asked by henry_david (67points) September 23rd, 2014

So my partner would love to enjoy a rad haunted house (real or set up for Halloween) as well as an honest to goodness pumpkin patch with hay bale rides, bobbing for apples, pumpkin carving, etc. Do you happen to know of anything like this within driving distance of San Francisco? Thanks guys!

There’s the Pumpkin Festival in Half Moon Bay in October. And search in about a month for Haunted Houses at Rec Centers. They are usually for kids though.

The Half Moon Bay Pumpkin and Art Festival is huge – it’s fun but it’s huge. I went when I lived in Cali in 1975 and it was a small festival, really cool and down to earth. I went back about 10 years ago when I visited, and it’s grown to something huge. Fun but huge. Nothing like it was in the mid-70’s.

Scare Grove in Stern Grove is popular. It’s in SF.

Was gonna say Half Moon Bay too.

Half Moon Bay is indeed the Woodstock of pumpkin patches, with all the schlock and touristy merch one would expect. It’s worth the effort if you’re bringing little kids, though I wouldn’t bother with the tacky commercialism as an adult.

Visit The Winchester Mystery House, you’ll love it.

Here’s info on an erotic haunted house in San Francisco.
