Recently how many near misses or potential accidents have you viewed on the freeway?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) September 17th, 2015

Thinking of this question, recently in one day I viewed:

Two motorcyclists darting on the freeway and knifing through traffic to the fast lane not even waiting for space to open up but darting through the spaces between the drivers, had one hit their brakes really hard because of them, it might have caused an accident.
Driver headed for the on-ramp 300yd ahead traveling fairly fast, some woman did not wait but pulls out of the fast food parking lot in the way of the driver headed for the on-ramp when they were about three and a half car lengths away causing that drive to break hard.
One driver darts out of the fast lane because it slowed, into the middle lane, at almost the same time but half a car ahead another driver darts from the slow lane to the middle. The fast lane driver hits his brakes hard, and then darts back into the fast lane not even slowing to see if he was cutting anyone off.

There are about 4 other incidents I am not even mentioning. It is like no one wants to slow down or have to wait on traffic so they make risky moves to try and save a few minutes or gain an extra car length or so. How often do you see such driving antics?

I’ve lost count. I drive the freeways of southern California every day, so a lot.

Do encounters with deer count? This week has been nuts!

When we were driving across country and back in August, we saw several accidents and near-misses. The scariest one occurred in upstate New York when a driver attempted to change lanes right into us, only swerving back at the last second.

With so many drivers texting on the road it is almost a daily occurrence for me.

None, however, our local news site here has listed some major ones the last few days, several roll overs, a head on and major injuries needing airlifts. Lots of people going down hills and ravines. A lot of the roads out here are very unforgiving, winding, twisting, blind curves, narrow lanes and you are going to either flip, roll down a steep hill or hit a monster tree, often all 3 at once. haha

Hundreds daily, and no I am not kidding, you start to wonder how these idiots are still alive?
They sure can’t drive.

Last week a guy whipped in front of me on the freeway while we were traveling about 65. I quickly hit the breaks to barely avoid a collision. Then I laid on the horn for about 5 seconds. I kept thing that was so so close.
