What is the best way to clean the screen of an HDTV?

Asked by Berserker (33548points) November 19th, 2016

I have a new hdtv, one of em big fancy uhd 4k rigs. I just want some quick tips on maintenance. How, and with what, should I clean the screen? What kind of cloth? And just damp with water, or is there some special product one can use?

My older tv I cleaned with a damp cloth but it always left streaks on the screen. You couldn’t see them when the tv was turned on. Still annoyed me.

Anyways, as asked. Thanks.

I use distilled water and paper towel. A softer cloth is usually recommended but I haven’t had any problems.

Maybe try a microfiber, or lint free cloth with denatured alcohol.

No, no no no alcohol!! DO NOT DO THAT! You could mess up the screen. No window cleaner.

The microfiber or lint free cloth is a good idea.

But use water.

Don’t use any solvent, used the microfiber and use distilled water. Put water on cloth, don’t spray water on the screen.

Where can I get distilled water, like a pharmacy? Thanks all, and microfiber/lint free it is.

I see distilled water in the grocery story, with the gallon and two-gallon jugs of water.

Yes, distilled water is easy to find. Look for the gallon jugs of water at your grocer. You should find spring, distilled, and drinking water. Some also have water just for babies.
