I still have a fax machine. i probably use it once or twice a year. The last time was to send something to the IRS.
About once per year I get advertisements via fax from an electronics recycling company.

We have a fax machine at work, which is also a copier and scanner. We use the fax occasionally. I’m more likely to scan and email the document but I can’t if I don’t have an email address for the recipient.

Not in years. My 3-in-one printer has fax capabilities but I have never hooked them up.

I used our ancient Fax machine the first time in over 10 years last year to fax my application to hike and camp in the Grand Canyon. I wondered why not just scan and e-mail the signed forms? Oh well, that’s the Federal Government for you. HA!

@gondwanalon Fax is safer for the recipient. There is virtually no chance of malware infecting the system.

Haven’t faxed in years.

Yes, often. The IRS, and other tax authorities, continue to use fax machines for security reasons. It isn’t unusual to be on the telephone with a revenue agent while faxing documents back-and-forth.

No, but like above, Government wants Fax documents and then I go to the Library to get that done if need be?

We still fax in the legal profession, but it’s usually old(er) attorneys and firms that still do it. I HATE it. It’s the 21st century.

No, but there have been a few times recently that I had to drive paperwork to a doctors office because they won’t take an email, they only accept faxes. I think that is totally ridiculous and bullshit! They will cite HIPPA, also bullshit, because it is my prerogative to do whatever I want with my medical information. Both instances recently were me needing to send information to the doctor. Both were lab results that they ordered. Both, they could have contacted Quest labs and requested the results that had never come through. Totally incompetent that doctor’s office. They just don’t want to give out the email address. I need to switch from that doctor’s group so badly.

Every few months, I will transmit documents using the fax machine which is usually covered to defeat the inevitable dust. I haven’t received a fax in years.

About once a year. Normally we scan and email now.

One of our runs requires us to fax the broker because the load is going to the US.
But other than that nope.

The medical field uses fax a lot. It is illegal to transmit many types of personal health information electronically. I use it often.

It’s not what you do, it’s their obligation to safeguard information. Email accounts are commonly hacked. Faxes are not.

To make email equally secure, it has to be encrypted, which is a step few people are even aware exists.

@Call_Me_Jay Well, the receptionist up front did let me email it to him when I went to their office and couldn’t print it, and my cardiologist (different office) let’s me email information to them.
