The Twilight Saga...

Asked by babygalll (2768points) January 11th, 2009

I got all except one of the books for Christmas. I haven’t started reading them, because I want to get the last book before I start. I am a little confused though. The order to read is Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Is there a fifth book or does Twilight have two covers? Are those all the books so far? Or am I missing any?

Please don’t spoil the books for me. :)

There are four books so far. So one of the books must have two covers.

Isn’t the fifth not being released because the author is throwing a hissy fit over a leaked copy online?

@asmonet, yes. The book was to be told from Edwards point of view. It was his version of the first book. She gave out different versions of it to several people, and one of them leaked it. It would have never been a movie, and probably wouldn’t have been read by a lot readers. It’s a bunch of redundancy in my view.

@babygalll, The books were engrossing and a good, quick read. I liked them a lot. You should just start reading NOW! I hope you enjoy them.

Yes!! read them!!! they are amazing… i literally fell in love with Edward I even dreamt that I cheated on my boyfriend with him jaja!!!

I am sorry but I don’t get it. Why fall in love with a guy whose chest is hard and ice cold? Doesn’t that rather preclude cuddling? I know I really hate it when my husband gets into bed with cold feet. I can’t imagine sleeping with someone whose whole body is cold.

@Darwin: Twilight=Fiction. Your husband is not a fictional character. :)

Ugh. I enjoy the urban fantasy genre, but I’m afraid I have to swim against the tide and say that I didn’t like the books. I prefer a heroine with a spine and a brain and some self esteem.

@babygal There are multiple covers for the books.

Everyone listen to syz about books. She’s amazing!

I just got done reading a series on her recommendation. It was fantastic. Wonderful. Amazing.

@bythebay – it may be fiction but even fiction needs to be believable. I cannot believe that Bella would truly want to be with a guy who feels cold. Being kissed with ice cold lips? Come on!

I haven’t been able to finish either of the first two books, but at least the first book has some action. Book two seems to be all about Bella’s longing for Edward. Period.

@stevenb: Thanks. :)

Yeah, I never got the appeal, even in high school. They’re just blah.

I never read the twilight books, but the movie kind of sucked, i swear the main characters only spoke to each other for a total of 10–15 minutes (at the most).
I was pretty bummed out because i ♥ vampire stuff, I have all of the Ann Rice books. Why haven’t they made more movies from her books?

bristolbaby's avatar

there are 4 books in all – the first one, Twilight, has two covers – one has all the vamps on the front and the other shows a hand holding an apple.

the order is Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn

in addition to these 4 there are two others. One is Twilight, the complete illustrated movie companion with behind the scenes full color photos of the casts, locations and sets, as well as storyboards and interviews. Released in November.

The other is the Twilight Saga: the Official Guide – Even if you think you know everything there is to know, this edition will put your knowledge to the test. It has character profiles, genealogical charts, maps, scenes that were deleted from the original books, etc. Released December 30th.

Didn’t know about the book series. Watched the movie a couple of days ago and it was quite a nice story. So maybe I have something interesting to read now :)

stevenb's avatar

@jack79, I think you’ll enjoy them if you liked the movie. They’re much more detailed than the movie. The girl is still the posterchild for codependcy, but they’re good reads nontheless.

My daughter, like most of her friends, liked both the book and the movie “Twilight.” However, she felt that “New Moon” was seriously lacking in action.

I personally thought that Bella was a bit of a drip.

MacBean's avatar

All of them are seriously lacking in action. They’re all 3/4 Edward and Bella being creepy and obsessive and abusive, and then SMeyer realizes nothing has happened so she tacks on four or five chapters of plot and that’s it until the next installment of mindless pining.

dragonflyfaith's avatar

@MacBean I’m glad I’m not the only one that finds Edward abusive and controling. I have yet to see the movie and still need to read the four book.

I will admit that the writing is not that great, but they are an entertaining read.

@babygalll You were wise to hold off until you had all four books. It’s very frustrating waiting to start the next. Have you read them yet?

cheebdragon's avatar

Where is the abuse??

dragonflyfaith's avatar

@cheebdragon I’ll pm you later just in case babygalll still hasn’t read the books.
