What does the word 'Piccadilly' make you think of?

Asked by cinderflubbin (56points) January 19th, 2009

It’s a pretty irrelevant question, but my band class is playing this song called the chimes of liberty, and everytime we play it, I think of the color pink and the word Piccadilly. So, I was wondering what Piccadilly makes other peoples think of.

I think of Piccadilly Circus. Too many lights. But I don’t go to Times Square, either.

Piccadilly Circus, crappy restaurants in Texas and a Morrissey song, “Piccadilly Palare” – which is a term for a certain type of gay slang from the 60s (i think), used in a BBC programme.

Benihana restaurant. We did an analysis of the restaurant’s international locations (specifically the U.K.) in my Operations Management course last semester. One of the locations was Piccadilly.

:/ Ugh college

Kind of- browsing stalls.

aprilsimnel's avatar

@Knotmyday – Now, browsing stalls makes me think of Covent Garden.

Pick a dilly. A Dilly is a snot. To pick a dilly would be to pick snots from one’s nose.

@aprilsimnel: Let’s go shopping! Get a bag.

aprilsimnel's avatar

@Knotmyday – Oooh, and then afterwards we can go to The Harp for a pint! Bob! How I miss London.

Vinifera7's avatar

@Jeruba
I also think of piccalilli.

Be very carefull not to confuse it with this or you could get yourself in trouble for not being pc!!

dlm812's avatar

@scamp That could be quite embarrassing… especially in reference to the circus. I can imagine someone’s child in one of those “I can’t believe my kid just said that” moments, proudly telling a stranger that he/she is “Going to the Pickaninny circus!”
