1. No. 2. No. Our jails are overcrowded as is.

1) No 2) No. Leave the law out of our personal lives.

EnzoX24's avatar

1.No.

2. No. Some people are unhappy with their relationships, but too afraid to end them by conventional means. There are already too many people in jail for crimes that shouldn’t result in jail in the first place.

1. No
2. No…but if I kill the man sleeping with my wife, then maybe :-)

1: No (but I have been the “other woman”. That was a joy.)
2: No.

No and no.

And you aren’t going to get any good data out of this. Most people that cheat probably won’t answer your question or they will lie. And anybody that thinks it should be a criminal offense is clearly insane.

1: Yes
2: No

@johnpowell I’ll watch and see who does not answer the question or lies and then turn them over to the morality police for prosecution!
@luminous00 You’re off the hook!

we are not a third world country – jail for adultery is ridiculous – might as well stone them.

in Korea, adultery is still a criminal offense.

However, if adultery were made a criminal offense in the US, then McCain would have been jailed and would not have run for president.

all the presidents would have been jailed. LOL

There was an in-depth discussion of adultery and the law here.

No for the first question. My bf and I have a strong relationship and I don’t feel the need to cheat. Plus, I think it’s wrong (bad karma) and I would feel so guilty. On the other hand, I don’t think it should be a crime. How does one define cheating? Some may say kissing = cheating, while others say only sex is. The truth is, different couples set different definitions. I don’t think it’s right to leave such personal definitions to be defined by the government. That’s just asking for trouble!

No I’ve never cheated. I don’t think it says a lot about me since I think some people cheat because they don’t feel satisfied. I am lucky in that my bf and I take care of each others’ needs. As for the jailable punishment, absolutely not.

No, and With the redicluous laws that are already in place, No, it should not. (like going to jail for X traffic violations)

dynamicduo's avatar

1. No. 2. No. Whatever people choose to do with their bodies is their business provided they do it with consenting people. The fact that it’s a scumbag thing to do is an ethical dilemna, not a legal one. Laws should never be created that regulate how or with whom people (with consent) fornicate with.

1. Yes – I was in a serious (as serious a 16 year old gets in a relationship) and I cheated which I still regret. I would never ever cheat on my wife.
2. No – The government should not be in a situation where they are capable of defining and prosecuting immorality.

No and hell no. I don’t even think most drug offenders should be in jail, let alone someone that cheats. If someone cheats on you you have to options : to stay or to go. That is how it should stay.

augustlan's avatar

No and are you kidding?

peyton_farquhar's avatar

1. No.
2. Definitely. I think we should also jail atheists, homosexuals, those who take the Lord’s name in vain, those who practice witchcraft, those who curse their parents, women who are not virgins when they wed, women who do not cry out when they are being raped, and men who murder their slaves.

El_Cadejo's avatar

Yes. It was a crappy thing to do, but at the same time one of the best things ive done in my life. Ill never do it again though.

No.

peyton_farquhar's avatar

@uberbatman care to explain further?

El_Cadejo's avatar

@peyton_farquhar :) that happened close to three years ago and we’re still happily together :)

tinyfaery's avatar

Yes. On pretty much every person I ever went out with. I have only been faithful to one person—my beautiful wife.

No.

susanc's avatar

Yes, but it was a good idea; no, that would be unAmerican.

amanderveen's avatar

1) No. 2) No. Even though I’ve been cheated on before and don’t agree with it, I don’t think it should be a “jailable” offense.

DrBill's avatar

1. No
2. No, you cannot legislate morality.
