General Question

Kelly27's avatar

Do you ever get the feeling all of a sudden that someone is watching you while you are in the shower?

Asked by Kelly27 (1501points) March 22nd, 2009

After two years of turning any thought I could possibly have into a yes or no question I find it rather difficult to part from that just yet. Just give me some time and I will be asking questions the proper way. :)

Seriously though, isn’t that a damn creepy feeling when that happens?

uh no. you watch too many movies.

I used to, yes.
I used to peek around the curtain to make sure there was no one there, and check the cupboards and closet before I went in. And if I forgot to lock the bathroom door, I’d flip.
I was one antsy teen. Especially after seeing scary movies.
Now, though… meh… I’m pretty relaxed.

rahb's avatar

yep, and I struck out on my first attempt at a yes/no. got a “not suitable for Fluther” response…

Kelly27's avatar

@shadling21 I am relaxed for the most part, but I have my moments. ;)

shadling21's avatar

Um, I should specify… I only acted like that occasionally.

lazydaisy's avatar

It’s still new and weird.

Ender's avatar

Big Brother is always watching.

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

I always keep the house doors locked when I take a shower. No one should have to see me naked without agreeing to it first.

MrKnowItAll's avatar

One can only hope . . .

Kelly27's avatar

@evelyns_pet_zebra Am I allowed to post a LOL to that because it really did just make me laugh. ;)

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

sure, Kelly, go right ahead, no one is watching.

All I can say is “Psycho”...need I say more?

Yes/no questions are fine; just don’t give yes/no answers. That is to say, the question should invite or even demand that responders elaborate and discuss.

Anyway…there was a time when I hated to close my eyes when washing my face or applying shampoo for fear than I would open them to something less than pleasant. Lord knows why; perhaps it was the ease with which something could be concealed on the other side of the curtain. But I was a strange little boy.

Kelly27's avatar

@Father_Guido There is always a need to say more.

lefteh's avatar

I get that feeling…it freaks me out. Ever since I saw Psycho.

jlm11f's avatar

No. But now I do. Gee THANKS. hehe, just kidding :)

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

Thanks, Father Guido, now I have that squeaky Psycho tune playing in my head.

Father_Guido's avatar

That’s what I’m here for :)

I must have picked up the signal from the camera they installed because for some reason you’re showing up on my computer.

ubersiren's avatar

Occasionally, and it’s always when I have soap on my face and can’t open my eyes real quick.

Bluefreedom's avatar

It’s not only while I’m in the shower. I feel watched in the bathroom, the dressing room at the clothing store, and even in the motel room where I keep my mistress. I get no respect. And no privacy either, for that matter.

cak's avatar

I have before and usually, it’s my husband sneaking it trying to scare me. I think he’s out to kill me! For some odd reason, he enjoy scaring me. I retaliate, usually by going to his truck and messing with the volume level and other annoying things. That always startles him…I’d say we’re even. mature, huh?

creativejuices's avatar

I always feel that way. There are no curtains in the kitchen and at times, in the middle of the night, I do not always fully dress to grab a cup of water. I always ALWAYS think people are watching. but maybe that the OCD working =)

When that happens I usually try to make it lighter, I bust into singing Rockwell’s Somebody’s Watching Me

ubersiren's avatar

@cak: If you need to like email me a safe word or something…

aprilsimnel's avatar

No, but now I’m thinking of an old Bugs Bunny cartoon.

“Eh, didja evah get teh feelin’ you wuz bein’ WATCHED?” Heeeheehee!

cak's avatar

@ubersiren – we’ll have to come up with something. :)

cak's avatar

@aprilsimnel – lurve for the Bugs quote!

aviona's avatar

Blondesjon's avatar

So that’s why they’re selling their house!

jo_with_no_space's avatar

Can’t say I’ve ever really felt that way :)

EmpressPixie's avatar

All the figgin’ time. I hate it. I always have to whip back the shower curtain, even when I know no one is there.

casheroo's avatar

My backyard is a swim club, so no one is there at night. Or during the day during off season. So I don’t think people can actually see me, especially with how high the house is.
I hate the feeling of someone coming into my apartment while I’m showering.
Psycho did a number on me.

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar
