Do you remember what childhood game was a favorite of yours? Care to share a specific story about it?

When you were a kid, I assumed you played games (Examples: Tag, Hide & Seek, etc…). So what is your favorite one that you remember? Care to share a story about it?

We had a sandbox in our backyard, and it was awesome. My mom could give me a bucket of green plastic army men, a couple dinosaurs, and a Tonka truck and I’d play out there all day long.

Any game that I played by myself. I really liked drawing and coloring. I did like playing with my Merlin toy though.

We used to play kickball in the neighbor’s yard. I also had a sandbox that I played in a lot. (Unfortunately our cat liked it too…)

Chase.

We all had bikes, we actually played outside.
All of us would all meet at the corner, there would be plenty of kids.

Basically it was hid and seek but using the entire neighborhood.

@ccrow Our dogs liked it too. Maybe that’s why my parents didn’t like me eating the sand? Hmm.

Block: A form of hide and seek with a base that the seeker has to defend. Once the seeker spots a hider he has to return to the base touch and shout “123 block and the name of whoever he has seen” or the hider has to get to base to be safe.

Hide & Seek

That one the kids on my block saved until after supper, because after supper it was dusk, and in the summer we’d go back out to play after we’d eaten until about 8:30, 9:00pm. So much easier to hide!

Fox & hounds, a game of tag played in the snow. You made a track in the shape of a circle with a line running through the center. One player tries to elude the others by maneuvering in the track.

Hide and Seek tag. The neighborhood I lived in had a ton of kids, and I remember staying out all day and night during summer, playing that game once it got dark. It never got boring, especially because we had the entire neighborhood to play in. We also had huge water fights every summer, and even some of the adults got involved. No one was safe, and you never knew exactly when one might break out. Ah, memories… :)

Yes, we pretended that we were horses. All of the girls had long, straight hair and those were our manes and we would run/gallop around. Don’t laugh
Back when you were 7, it was awesome. My sister still teases me about it to this day. I’ll never live it down.

When I was ~7, about the only game I really liked for more than a few days was Chess but even that got old by the time I was 10.

The first game that really held my interest for long (and still like to play even almsot 20 years later if I can find others) is Car Wars under the CWC2 rules, though Classic BattleTech was a close second until FASA went under.

@IchtheosaurusRex I also played that game in the snow, but we called it “Fox and Geese”. The “Fox” chased the “geese”
