What are you really happy about? Something really special to you right now?

Asked by Dr_Lawrence (20014points) July 18th, 2010

He appreciates all his friends on Fluther!

Why is Dr. Lawrence so happy?

After over 3½ months, his wife has been able to come home!

US Homeland security allowed him into the USA without the legally required documents. Just had birth certificate and driver’s licence. They made no big deal about it!

This enabled me to pick her up at the Amtrak station!

Share something that really delights you!
There must one thing worth celebrating if you think about it.

(OK my question is in part an excuse to share my reason to celebrate.)

Moderators please cut me some slack~!
Thank you.

Congratulations, Dr. Lawrence!

Congratulations :D

I’m happy because for the first time in my life I’ve been able to get past a rough patch in a relationship without losing the want for that person and now I feel better than ever, appreciate my partner, recognize the efforts he makes for us and I really believe I’ve experienced forgiveness.

So exciting—congrats!!

I’m happy because I found a girl who is in the process of getting her Pilates certification and needs to train people one on one. So I am getting the chance to become healthier, and learn something new with a really cool person, for a few months! New leaf kinda thing. Oh and I’m going to see Inception tonight and kinda (oddly) excited :)

@Samantha_Rae-
Free Pilates? Oh that would be sooooo nice.

I just set some plans in motion to visit Denali National Park, where I’ll get the opportunity to see lots of wildlife and see Mt. McKinley. I can’t wait!

Also, I just found out that a close friend who I’ve known for ages is pregnant. Even though we’re not related, I feel like I’m going to be an uncle. :)

Congratulations! I’m glad she made it home to you! I know you are excited!

As for me, right now I’m happy that I finished my school work. The only thing I have left before graduation is a presentation of my final paper. That shouldn’t be too bad. I’ve already practiced it several times and the actual presentation isn’t until August. I feel really good about my presentation and am ready for graduation!

I’m happy because my 7 year old son was obsessed with getting a guitar. Today one of my friends picked him up and took him to her house and he pulled weeds. She paid him some cash. With what he had saved up, he had enough to purchase his guitar. He was so happy it nearly made me cry. Plus, my friend got her weeds pulled!

I am really happy about my relationship with my 22 yr. old daughter. ( Love her bf too, awesome guy! )

Now that she has been on her own the past few years our relationship has deepend into a great friiendship. We can laugh and carry on for hours, share the same sense of humor and it is so wonderful to see her blossoming in her life and first serious relationship!

( They officially moved in together last October. )

It’s also great that she has a renewed appriciation for mom and sees and likes me as an individual beyond the parenting role!

We call each other at random just to share funny little snippets of our day and I am so happy and proud and RELEIVED to make the transistion into peers of equality!

I love my girl!

@Dr_Lawrence congratulations and well done <hugs>

I’m happy to have a wonderful hubby and furbabies who make me smile and give me far more love and devotion than I deserve, and for all of the other blessings I have in my life. Blessings that so many of us take for granted every day, like somewhere safe to sleep, enough food to eat, a job in these uncertain times. The world is a scary place right now, and its a good thing to stop every now and again and count your blessings. Great question @Dr_Lawrence <hugs>

@Dr_Lawrence Congrats on the good news :)

I’m happy because I am becoming more comfortable in my own skin than I’ve ever been before. Life is good. People are good.
@bunnygrl‘s response sums up a lot of what I feel. Thanks for that. It’s important to stop and count such blessings often.

I am happy because I just came home from a beautiful weekend away at Baha’i summer camp with my boys. It was a wonderful experience with lots of incredible people. My boys met some great kids their age and had a blast. A great time was had by all.

@Dr_Lawrence congratulations and lurve to you!

My boys are back from a week away at Scout camp and it is so great to have them back! I missed them a LOT! :))

@Dr_Lawrence Congratulations. Give her a snuggle for me. My border hassles were the other way round (firearms documentation), but at least the Canadian officials try to be helpful. I’m all set now until the next time Ottawa “simplifies” the Firearms Act.

Hopefully, my wrist will get sorted out tomorrow morning. Tuesday, I’ll be cutting the Paxil down to 30mg. J may be all the antidepressant I need now. Life is worth living again.

@Dr_Lawrence Finally!! I’m so happy for you. Aster.
@Cruiser that was sweet.

Only four more days until i will fly to see my sweet girlfriend again! It has been eight or so weeks.
I love it how those last days before traveling seem to fly by. But sometimes seem to crawl.

rooeytoo's avatar

So the bloody yanks at the border were actually nice to you, amazing and good news.

I am so happy because I live in civilization again. It is just so good. I have a chiropractor appointment this afternoon and I don’t have to drive 2.5 hours to get there. And we are going to a movie tonight and grab a bite to eat afterwards. I know it sounds silly, but after 5 years in the bush, it is like heaven.

My daughter and her family are coming to visit in a week. I’m going to visit a friend next month. Very happy about both.

I am happy today because yesterday I got to see my dad and he took me to the Aquarium. I also got an airbrushed Penguin tattoo!

Congratulations @Dr_Lawrence – I’m so happy for you!

I went to my first AA meeting. It was scary but I did it and am incredibly humbled by the experience. I got my first sobriety coin. It’s tin but feels like gold to me. I keep staring at it and smiling- hubbs too.

@gemiwing super my friend!

Congratulations Dr L!

My current happything is that I’ve been approved for a consultation at Charing Cross hospital for starting sex-reassignment treatment. It’s a long wait but I’m finally on my way.

Dr_Lawrence's avatar

@gemiwing I am proud of you for that important first step. That took real courage.

I lost my purse 15 miles from here yesterday. This morning, a sweet older man called saying he found it in a trashcan in the parking lot. I only had the purse for a week and it had a camera, $40 cash, credit cards, driver’s license, nice wallet, cell phone—and everything was still in it except the money! I was THRILLED, my H went and got it for me and paid the man (which he attempted to refuse).
I am SO happy today! I love this purse!

Happy that my brain is starting to work correctly again. I was like a “space cadet” for three days after coming out of general anesthesia. A lovely young lady is waiting on me like there’s nothing else in her world. (bless you, J)
