What do you do when you're having a really bad week?

Asked by SamIAm (8703points) August 12th, 2010

You know, the week where everything just seemingly goes wrong. When everything is out of your control, and nothing works out in your favor (like when the cat is sick and costing you a fortune, and you’re unemployed and don’t get either job you really wanted).

It’s so easy to just shut down and hope that next week will get better… I’m wondering if any of you have advice on how to keep your spirits up, and get the motivation to not just sleep until the following Monday.

I bake.

Seriously. When I’m in that “nothing is going right!” mood, I bake.

Something about measuring, mixing, beating, kneading…it’s almost like meditation. And then you instantly have a perfect representation of the fact that you still have some control over the universe.

I always go on my computer and watch SHANE DAWSON! he’s awesome.
Or I just eat chocolate while watching him!

I was having a bad week this week, and I went swimming. It lifted my blues and relaxed me.

I talk to my friends or vent to my mom. :]

Bury my head in a good book or, in summer, I garden. I also agree about baking only in my case it would be making soup.

I exercise to the point of exhaustion. Something about pushing the physical limits of the human body that can help neutralize the firestorm raging inside the skull. As @marinelife pointed out exercise is relaxing and going full out for me taps out any energy I may have left to even want to worry about most of what is essentially at that moment out of your control.

Getting off fluther sometimes lifts my mood. I get to do other things besides think. I know, I know, calling it “thinking” is a gross exaggeration, but to me it passes as thinking.

I have it and then I get over it.

Going to the pub and having a decent pint of ale usually works.

This week has been horrible. I just want to go lay under my sheets and die. My crush doesn’t like me, I’m losing friends, I’m hurting people I don’t want to, and I’m just feeling like utter trash. I tend not to dwell on it. I don’t let it out and I just think to myself..why do I need these people? I blame other people when I’m in the wrong and I know I shouldn’t. I’m trying to make amends, but it’s not working and only making me more depressed. If I knew what to do, I’d tell you.

I make a day for my husband and me, no kids – it has to include naps and chocolate ice cream and sex.

I haven’t had a bad week in so long, I can’t even remember when. I sometimes have a bad hour or two, and then I go to my blogs and read up on what my friends are doing, or browse through my photo albums.

i think “get good news” and “eat massive amounts of chinese foods” are the new best resolutions :)

I clean the house from top to bottom…. in a very busy fashion.
My SO always knows the mood I am in by the way I am cleaning things and says ‘Uh-ho watch out partyparty is having a bad day’ LOLL

I like to cook massive amounts of food. Watching others enjoy eating it takes the edge off things.
