I must’ve been pretty young because I don’t remember saying anything besides “Mom” and “dad”.

I always called em that- and I’m old too

shpadoinkle_sue's avatar

I still say it. Nothing wrong with it.

I don’t remember calling them “mommy” and “daddy”, just “mom” and “dad”. My son stopped calling me “mommy” about 2 years or so ago, though he has said it on occasion when he was really sick or hurt.

i still call dad daddy

Probably right around high school, I don’t really remember. That’s about the time my son’s started calling me Mom.

What do you mean “stopped”?

daytonamisticrip's avatar

I’ve never called my mom mommy and I still call my Dad Daddy.

muppetish's avatar

I am twenty-one years old and still address my parents as “mommy” and “daddy”. In writing and formal conversation, I refer to mommy as “mum” and daddy as “dad”.

Gamrz360's avatar

I’ve always refer my parents to mum and dad.

ratboy's avatar

Stop? Daddy would spank me if I didn’t address Mommy as “Mommy.”

I stopped around middle school. I still say it sometimes on purpose, but it’s no longer a habit.

I guess I stopped at a pretty young age because I don’t really remember saying anything other than ‘mom’ and ‘dad’. Sometimes I would say ‘mother’ pronounced muuthurrr or ‘father’ pronounced faathurr when I wanted to cock an attitude, but that’s about it.

I was about 11 or 12. I remember my father took it as an insult. Typical behavior for someone so utterly self-centered.

The dad thing was taken care of when I ten. I’m 33 and still refer to mom as “mom”. I use “MOTHER” if she is pissing me off.

I didn’t stop. I still call them that a lot, except when I’m around my friends, then I try to say “mom” and “dad” instead. =P

I call my dad “daddy,” but I do it in a weird way. I kind of drop off the second d and the last long e sound of the Y so it sounds like I’m saying “da-aye.”

I call my mom momma.

tragiclikebowie's avatar

I still call my dad “daddy”. My mom is “mum” unless I want something, and then she’s “mommmmyyyy.” I’m not sure when I stopped calling her “mommy” on a regular basis – but I can speculate it was probably when I was 13 and learned my parents were getting a divorce since that was the start of our relationship pretty much ending until I was 18.

SundayKittens's avatar

It will always be “Mama” and “Daddy” to me.
My mom has always hated being called mommy because it reminds her of Mommy Dearest.

Frenchfry's avatar

I don’t think I ever did. It was always mom and dad

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

Didn’t stop. I still call them that, though I usually use “mom & dad.”
@SundayKittens my mom hates being called “mother” because it reminds her of that movie.

ragingloli's avatar

Never called them that.

I stopped as a preteen… maybe around 11 years old. My kids tried to stop when they entered middle school, but just couldn’t do it. They are now 16, 15, and almost 13, and they still call us mommy and daddy. They say they’ll never stop.

OpryLeigh's avatar

I can’t remember the last time I called my mum, mummy. I still say daddy all the time though, it must be a girl thing.

downtide's avatar

I don’t remember ever calling them that so it must have been very young.

Pied_Pfeffer's avatar

Sis and I still use ‘daddy’ when talking about him amongst ourselves. I think ‘mommy’ got shortened to ‘mom’ as a pre-teen. How do mothers instinctively know their child’s scream for “MOM!” from all of the other children’s in a store?

Drewseph's avatar

@augustlan, are they girls or boys?

Aesthetic_Mess's avatar

I never called them that. It was always mom and dad

SundayKittens's avatar

@TheOnlyNeffie Haha! Which is why I say Mommy or Mother when she’s pissed me off!

Kayak8's avatar

Momma is Momma and Daddy is Daddy. The only variation is Mother and Daddy when I am being formal.

Kayak8's avatar

@Drewseph Nope, it’s a Southern thing, I can’t explain it . . . .

augustlan's avatar

@Drewseph They’re all girls.
