Did you ever have a dream that affected your waking attitude?

Asked by Blueroses (18256points) October 19th, 2010

Last night I dreamed that a friend abandoned me in a strange city. I woke so angry that I can barely be civil today. I know it’s not “fair” to treat somebody as if he could control his behavior in my dream but I’m still mad.
Am I crazy or has anyone else ever done this?

I’ve gone into work a few times peeved at a co-worker because of a dream episode and avoided them until I shook it off and got back to reality.

I don’t know that my behavior has been dramatically affected by my dreams; but I’ve dreamt of deaths that have been bothersome to me; I’ve had “sex dreams” that linger througout the day in a nice sort of way; and I’ve solved problems in dreams. More internal stuff than outward behavior though.

Definitely. My mood can be affected if I wake up after a particularly good or bad dream. Like, if I have one of my favorite dreams, I’m walking on clouds all day. If the dream was horrible and terrifying, I feel down and off.

Then there are the times where I had a sex dream about someone and couldn’t look them in the eyes the next day because I was embarrassed and/or grossed out. :P

Absolutely! I’ve been dreaming that my father dies recently and waking up crying. It takes me a good half hour to get over it and then I want to go see him and be nice to him.

I also sometimes wake up in a bad mood without knowing why and feel grumpy the whole day. I assume its from a dream I don’t remember.

@MissAnthrope LOL at the sex dream. Done that too.
I’m actually still so pissed off by this recent dream (12 hours later) that I want to change my phone number, cancel my email account and go back in time to castrate this person’s father so we would never have met!

@Blueroses – That bad, huh?

Absolutely! And I know I have to shake it off but sometimes it’s sure hard work.

Sure do! And it is those dreams about flying are the ones I have to be careful with as the stairs are right outside my door!

Yes, I once dreamed my sister died and I had to go get her kids. I brought them home to live with me. Because of this dream, I bought life insurance to cover her kids for a short time. In those days, my sister lived a very dangerous life style.

Just yesterday I had a particularly uncanny dream. I can’t remember much, but my girlfriend was with me. We were talking about something that resonated with me to the core. I woke up feeling sad, small, and out of place, and I felt like I missed my girlfriend terribly. Instead of getting started on my usual morning routine, I crawled behind my girlfriend and held her for a little while. It was very strange.
