Can I use the dentist who gave me a reference as a referee on my resume?

Asked by julia999 (343points) November 23rd, 2010

Recently a dentist gave me a great reference letter after I did work experience at his clinic.

I’m currently filling out my resume, and I was wondering if I can automatically put down his name and business number as a referee?

You can add it to your resume AND include a copy of the letter in your application packet.

it is always good to give the person a heads up when you use them as a reference – so if someone calls him for more detail, he isn’t caught off guard. even better to send job description to him too.

I would, as a courtesy, ask him.
