I need some gift suggestions for the clerical staff at work who I am also friendly with. Can you offer suggestions?

Asked by jca (36062points) December 8th, 2010

I am friendly with the office clerical staff and I want to buy them holiday presents this year (yes, they celebrate Christmas). What are some gift suggestions you think these women, who are approximately 30 years old, would like, costing between $20—$30? It could be multiple smaller gifts in a gift bag or basket (I am creative as to packaging!)

Something from a store like Bath and Body Works might be nice. :)

Just get them gas cards. You know they’ll use and need it at one point or another.

Etsy.com

The search engine is brilliant and the selection is unbeatable and most things are completely unique. You can search by what each is interested in. One collects birds, butterflies or baseballs? or a Sci fi nut? Or has antique frames on her desk? Perhaps one likes antique jewellery, or my personal favorite, handmade soap.. it’s all there. Happy Etsy shopping.

Gift baskets work well for me. You can personalize it to each person and it seems it’s easier to find a few small items for someone than one item that they would like.

Is it going to be like a grab bag? Like they can select a gift, but they are wrapped and don’t know what is inside? How many people? You could bring in lunch for them, and have a two hour fun time having each of them pick a number. Number one picks a wrapped gift, opens it for all to see. Then number 2 gets to choose that gift or a mystery gift from the unopened packages. If 2 takes the already opened gift, number one gets to pick another gift from the unopened packages. Then number three can pick any of the opened gifts or something from the unopened packages, etc. That is if you want it to be a bunch of different gifts wrapped, and make it more of an event for everyone. I like it better than secret santa, and it works when only one person is buying the gifts.

Otherwise, I always love practical. A Target GC would be just fine with me if I worked for you. Everyone gets the same, everyone happy.

A event might be memorable. So perhaps two movie tickets.

I found these wonderful ceramic coffee mugs that look just like the paper cups with the lids and sleeves that you get from Starbucks (but they’re real!). The one in the picture is orange, but the one that I bought was red and they have them in multiple colors and some with holiday patterns. You can see one here They’re only $7.99 each.

Trader Joe’s and Starbucks gift cards are always nice.

If you can go together, you could treat them to a lunch or to dessert somewhere.

And almost everybody loves getting home made baked goods: pumpkin bread, biscotti, cookies, fudge, rum balls etc.

It really depends on your staff. Since the economy is still troubled, something useful like a Visa gift card or gift card to a close-to-the-office gas station may show that you understand financial hardships and are more interested in giving something useful versus a like/want that may not have value to every employee. Personally, I’d prefer usable funds compared to bath soaps or a giftcard to Starbucks. Not everyone is the same, so again it really depends upon your staff. Perhaps alcohol, picture frames, oooh – or gift cards to a local salon/spa – most women would probably love that!
