People are always telling me to calm down because I’m either worried about vague, not-so-important issues, or I’m super excited about something good that has happened to me or someone I care about. Either way, I’m usually pretty big with my emotions and reactions.

Stop that, and you’ll go blind.
serious answer: think about teaching history. I’m into history in a major way.

People are always telling me I should restart my baking business (or just bake more often) because my cakes and baked goods were soooo good.

People are always tewlling me I should be a stand up comedien because I’m so funny.
Actually, I’m pretty sure I’d be a “throw up” comedien, because I’m so nervous in front of strangers.

[Stupid] people are always telling me to move to another country because I don’t love everything ever about the USA, so I should leave.

People are always telling me that I should “just open a restaurant” even though I have no experience and no capital. I love to cook, but that in no way equates with running a restaurant. Plus I’d rather eat in a restaurant than run one.

People are always telling me to smoke pot because they do. Not fun one.

People are always telling me to make more music videos because I know lots of people in bands and almost have a degree in media production. Fun one.

People are always telling me they want to read what I’ve written because they like the snippets of stories I tell them. Funnest one of all!

This is scary because all I can think of are things my husband is always telling me to do. Other people pretty much leave me alone.

@janbb That’s funny- all I can think of are things your husband tells me to do. hehe

People are always telling me to chill out, because I’m so emotional.

Hmm. People don’t tell me to do things much. My husband occasionally tells me to lighten up and stop trying to manage things. My son tells me I really ought to take care of myself. I don’t think my friends ever tell me what I ought to do. I don’t tell them, either. (Unless they ask.)

At work: People tell me I should work with computers (software, hardware, IT) because I’m the one they go do when they need help.

In other situations: I’ve been told I should become a counselor, because I’m good at listening and offering advice (BFF shut it).

At school: I’ve had profs tell me to become a professor or curriculum writer because I’ve a good grasp of the knowledge I’ve studied, and I’m a creative teacher and writer.

At home: Partner tells me I should take cooking and art lessons, because (obviously) I enjoy cooking and creating art.

Stop smoking, for obvious reasons.
Know my limitations, because I’m always overdoing it, even though I have fibromyalgia and ought to know better.
Become a therapist, because I’m the go-to-girl when people are troubled.

(acquaintances and friends) write a book because my life story is pretty interesting.

(coworkers) become a life coach because I help people sort out their priorities, relationships and futures.

(husband) put out more because my anti-depressant has really decreased my sex drive.

KatawaGrey's avatar

@augustlan: Nope, it’s because you’re a natural mother. :)

People are always telling me to try to work for Google because I’m good with websites.

People are always telling me to write a book because they like my writing style, but I never seem to write anything longer than a couple pages.
