The word for "not in the right mind"?

Asked by longtresses (1334points) January 15th, 2011

I’m looking for synonyms for “not in the right mind.”

e.g. “She’s waiting for her friend who’s not in the right mind to hang up the phone. The friend has recently been sharply criticized; she’s too affected to make important decisions.”

to…. “She’s waiting for her _________ friend to hang up the phone….”

The idiom you mean, I think, is “not in the right frame of mind.”

Distracted, pre-occupied, distraught.

Distracted. Distressed. Distraught. Despondent.—-so many “D” words, even @talljasperman had a “D” word.— Bewildered. Troubled. Glum. Miserable. Morose.
