Looking for a good diet to loose weight...

Asked by Adina1968 (2752points) April 11th, 2008

Can anyone recommend a diet that helps you loose weight? I am not interested in doing Atkins or South beach primarily because I HATE eggs! I would love some advice!

Yeah, I’ve heard the Atkins you bad breath. I’m sure I will get berated for this one but I’m going for the Master Cleanse. I’m doing it to detoxify, not lose weight but I’ve heard that a person does lose a significant amount of weight.

The best diet is no diet! The way you eat and exercise is key, not the diet itself. Eat healthy foods, stay out of the middle of the grocery store and you have a good starting point. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day.

Just drill a hole in Your’s spoon.
And walk,if You can’t exercise.

I like iremuffin’s idea. Exercise, is good on so many levels, plus you can eat those carbs. that your body needs.

My aunts have all had good luck on Weight Watchers, mostly because it teaches you to eat well and to carefully think about everything you eat, rather than a fad diet or one of those diets that forces you to buy their pre-packaged products.

But the best thing to do is get a notebook and write down everything you eat for an entire week, before you even think about dieting. Everything. Even the nibbles you snack on while the fridge door is open, or the grazing you do when you pass by a table of candies at work. Write down everything you eat—and drink! Drinking is really important. I realized I was consuming about a thousand calories of orange juice a week. oranges are healthy, but I’m generally just as happy adding a sprinkle of fresh lemon to my water, and then I’m not drinking my calories—I save it for the good stuff I want to eat. After a week of writing it down, spend an hour going through the list and analyzing what you could change or do better.

If you cut out alcohol entirely, stop drinking your calories, and don’t eat any packaged foods, plus excercise 30 minutes every day, you are going to lose weight. Plan to lose it slowly- only a pound a week or so—but that is the kind of weight you will keep off. Crash diets will help you lose weight quicker, but you will gain it right back.

And one more thing—don’t deny yourself all sweets, you will spend your time obsessing and craving over the chocolate you are missing out on. Just let yourself eat a taste now and then in moderation, but make it intentional—don’t grab chocolate on the go, break off a small square, sit down, eat it slowly, and really savor it.

Oh—and if you go out to restaurants, cut your entire entree in half before you even start eating. Eat half, and take the other half home. The portions that restaurants serve are much bigger than what a normal person should eat.

just eat under 200 calories a day. i dropped 30lb in 2 months and have kept it off since last year!

Just kidding – I agree with diet and exercise. Cutting out simple things like too much bread, soda, snacks, sweets, etc. And regularly exercising!

The one with the most exercise. Just eat healthy.

Missa says readiness to change is more important than the diet and that you should contact a registered dietician if you’re committed. Wait a minute . . . . isn’t that just a plug for registered dieticians . . . .

Eliminate all sugar and white flour products from your diet and eat vegetables.
Be sure to eat five small meals a day. This takes some getting used to, but trust me, when you replace white flour products with vegetables and stop eating simple sugars, you will want that small healthy meal every 3–4 hours. Be sure to eat a source of protein at EVERY meal (meats, nuts, etc) since protein is the one thing that will keep you full until the next meal.

If you think of your plate in thirds, one third will be protein, one third vegetables and one third complex carbohydrates (sweet potato, whole grain wild rice, etc). Eat things that look like they just came from the farm or field – the more natural it is, the healthier it is for you and the faster you will lose the stomach weight fast.

Drink a lot of water to help increase your stomach fat weight loss. You should
do cardio 4–5 times a week for 30–60 minute intervals. Get at least 8 hours of sleep a night. The more rested you are, the better your body performs.

I did all of these things and it worked but the #1 thing that worked the best and fastest for me was this www.goo.gl/Uh6qf5
