What is the best service to use to obtain a background check on yourself?

Good things are not free – so I am looking for paid services.

Thank you!

What kind of background check are you talking about? Criminal, financial, credit check, or something else?

All of the above. :)

One of the colleges I went to uses Verified Credentials for the times when they need background checks (such as for their nursing program). Here is their product page that shows all the different things they can do.

To check your own credit, you can get a free credit report from each of the 3 main credit reporting agencies once a year. You can go to this site for those. You can get all three at the same time (assuming you haven’t gotten a free one within the past year) or you can stagger them and get them at different times. I get one every 4 months (rotating between the 3 of them) to keep an eye on my credit throughout the year instead of just once a year since they tend to be pretty much the same. Sometimes they will have different things on them though.

Why would a person not know their own background? The only exception, would be your credit score.

Is this what you are asking about?

i think seaofclouds gave you an excellent answer.
for john65pennington: while in law school my cousin got a job as a clerk at the court house. he looked up my back ground. i had a bunch of traffic tickets- mostly parking- and some others. there was a warrent out on me. i told him i never got any of the tickets. he said: ‘oh you got them you just forgot to pay them.’ then he told me of the other tickets. they were all for my dog. i have never owned a dog.
so he checked. there was another guy in town with my same name and they were all his. so, sometimes some one is lazy- could be a cop, could be the person behind the desk, or maybe it was the guy with my name picking up a shone book and saying: ‘oh, i moved and this is where you contact me.’ and the info was put into the system as mine. i don’t know but it was easy to see we had different ss# and that vin # was/were his.
also, many govt. agencys are known for getting things wrong in your file: irs, ss admin, ...
it’s not a bad idea to have it checked; that way someone else’s dog doesn’t get a warrent for your arrest put out there.
