Has anyone had Microdiscectomy surgery?

Asked by taylorstiles (5points) February 25th, 2011

I went to see the Ortho Doctor today. He said my hernniated disc is so bad that I need A Microdiscectomy. I am only 36 so the fact that I have to have surgery scares me. He said that technology has come A long way and yhis is A low risk procedure, He also said I will be back to work in A week or less. Has anyone had this procedure? Is it the right thing to do at my age? I don’t think it will get better on its own. I have been I servere pain for 8 weeks. I have tried injections and chiropractor.

I wouldn’t worry too much about micro-surgeries. I haven’t had this procedure done nor do I know anyone off the top of my head who has, but I am 22 and I have had one orthoscopic surgery on my left knee to repair some cartilage and one ankle surgery to repair a broken bone with 2 screws, so I don’t think you have much to worry about.
