Asked by sandystrachan (4417points) April 9th, 2011 from iPhone

So I am thinking about getting an iPad or ipad2 depending my funds, my main thing is would I need a simcard ? I wouldn’t use 3G I’d only ever be using WI-FI .
I know it’s a noob thing to ask but someone had to ,riiiiiight.?
I must also add I am not in America , I am from Scotland so no AT&T .:-)

If you’re not going to use 3g then no you wouldn’t need a SIM card. You can also save yourself £100 by buying the wifi only version.

Wifi-only is the way to go. Why pay money for something (like 3G) that you’ll never use?

Lucky for you there are two types of each iPad.

3G and Wi-Fi which will require a sim card for the 3G and
Wi-Fi-only iPads that don’t require a sim card.
