Is there a way to unwarp a CD?

Asked by lucillelucillelucille (34325points) April 20th, 2011

I bought a book that came with a CD and it will not play well because it is slightly warped.
Is there any way to flatten it?

Yeah, get a sharp object, find a crease in the plastic and pull it away…oh, you said unwarp, sorry…lol!

@yankeetooter I know how you feel ;)
Now get over here and flatten it!

yankeetooter's avatar

Aw, sit on it! (just kidding, or am I?...that might work, lol!)

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@yankeetooter -I want to flatten it,not annihilate it! XD

yankeetooter's avatar

Ah…try putting heavy books on it, then?

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@yankeetooter -Yes,but I do not want to wait until the end of time….why don’t you just give me the “real” answer???

yankeetooter's avatar

I would if I knew it…I’m confused…

@yankeetooter -I think you are holding back and will get a crappy birthday present from me as payback. ;)

I would suggest writing to the publisher and offering to exchange the disk you have for a new one.

After all, the production cost of the disk is next to nothing. And if you offer to send them a valid disk that they published, then it’s obviously not a scam to get a free disk. I’d think that a sharp customer service person would see that they can make a legitimate customer happy for little more than the cost of postage… to send you a new disk gratis.

@WasCy -Good suggestion and I had considered this but because I am the most impatient woman on the planet I figured I could perform a do-it-yourself kind of miracle….sigh

@lucillelucillelucille You guessed it…I’m getting you a…wait for it, wait for it…another warped CD!

yankeetooter -!#$ I will ask this same question again and expect a different answer…..XD

If you’re willing to risk it, then I’d try a warm iron on a hard, flat surface, with a good amount of padding.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@WasCy -That’s what I’m talking about! I love alittle risk with my experiments! :)

@WasCy Is brilliant.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@seazen_—Yes,he is and he will be getting a CD with a brown triangle on it for his birthday. ;)

I was thinking a little heat and pressure. Maybe the oven at 150 degrees with a little weight on the CD for a little while?

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe—I can’t fit in my oven though… XD

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille I didn’t mean that much weight. “a little pressure”. Jez, you’ll smush the thing.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille I could probably fold you up enough to fit in the oven if you want, but it would hurt.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe Yes,it would hurt you more than it would hurt me….XD

@lucillelucillelucille Yeah, I’m sure you’re right, XD.
