What kind of midnight snacks do you munch on?

Asked by KateTheGreat (13640points) April 26th, 2011

Finals are coming up, I’m stressed, and I’m staying up very late these days. I just sat down with a peanut butter sandwich and a glass of cold milk.

What kind of things do you like to eat when the midnight hunger hits?

I rarely eat midnight snacks. The only time I eat very late is usually when I have been out dancing, and I eat anything from a hotdog to a superbird at Denny’s. At home I would probably eat something salty like chips if I had any, or maybe a piece of fruit like grapes or an apple. If there is cake or cookies in my house, I probably would have that, but usually it is not available. Another thing I tend to eat that is small is an English muffin.

Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t…

I don’t like to eat late at night. It gives me really awful, vivid dreams.

When it’s late I get unstoppable cravings for sugar and go rummaging through the house for anything sweet. Right now I’m snacking on rugelach, little buttery pastries like rolled pie crust filled with preserves and nuts.

If I get around to eating a midnight snack it is usually ice cream, but a good PB&J with cold milk hopefully chocolate is always good too.

I’m quite partial to a portion of punany. You know, that’s almost poetic in it’s beauty.

When I’m at my significant other’s house, we’ll sometimes share a bowl of cereal or scoop of ice cream. Otherwise, I usually don’t do any midnight snacking.

I used to eat peanut butter on things too, @KatetheGreat and @Hypocrisy_Central, until a nutrition-savvy friend advised me against eating protein late at night if you’re trying to sleep after. Protein gives you great energy which is why it’s good for breakfast, but it’ll keep you awake!
Maybe good for finals then, Kate
