What are some things that you love about yourself?

I believe that confidence and self-love is very important. What special things make you love yourself? What do you love about yourself?

I’m kind of a badass. And I’m pretty awesome in my academic field.

I love my breasts, butt, skin tone, hair and face (though these two can be really hard to maintain and keep smooth)

I’m fabulously gay. My children love their gay father. I’m an adept tarot card reader. I’m a very good reader in general, and since I think reading is an art, that ability makes me happy about myself. I’m a very good actor.

This may sound strange to someone without mental illness, but faithfully taking my medication makes me happy about myself. It means I’m taking care of my needs.

Answering questions can really help someone.
Here’s my answer: Confidence is so important. I mainly think that its a quality that can be so readily apparent. It tells others that you trust yourself with any task and that you are convinced of you worth. Although some people may confused snobbishness as being confident. I also think that people who love themselves are more responsible with themselves and teach other people how to treat them. These are so important in life.

I have diverse and interesting hobbies.
I am usually very self-aware and am improving at being proactive about changing the things that bother me. I’m always trying to better myself in some way.
I am awesome at math.
Thanks, needed this today.

And what is it that you love about yourself, @KatetheGreat?

I love my sensibility, sensitivity, compasion and humor.
That’s enough..I could go on and on about what I love about me, but than people would think I was[redacted]

KateTheGreat's avatar

@Mariah I would have to say that I love how I am in a constant search to make life better for myself. I like to face my fears and learn new things all of the time!

@nailpolishfanatic : What’s a bestie? :)

Don’t mind admitting there’s really nothing much I love about myself. Don’t mind admitting I’m working on that.

Hawaii_Jake's avatar

@nailpolishfanatic : I never kiss on the first date. ;)

Oh you two!! So cute.

I love that I can look at things, including myself (especially myself), and unflinchingly see them for what they are. I have no fear of calling a spade a spade.

ironically most folks fucking hate this

KateTheGreat's avatar

@Blondesjon It’s a very respectable trait. Many people don’t accept things for what they are and end up hurting themselves or others.

KateTheGreat's avatar

@Seelix You are a badass, and that’s what I love about you!

I am quite well known for my extreme self-loathing, but I do appreciate my slowness to anger, and my reasonableness. Several friends seem to lose it easy, and I can usually pick thru the shit to find the intent, and the proper resolution.

laineybug's avatar

I love my hair, people always ask if my color is natural. It is. my compassion for others, and my ability to make fun of myself.

I think that’s just the tip of your iceberg. ;-)

I’d elaborate, but that would take away from the immense amount of time that I’m going to need to come up with one for me. ;-p

“I love my breasts, butt, skin tone, hair and face (though these two can be really hard to maintain and keep smooth)”

That pretty much describes my own self-perception. ;-p

Well, since you ask. I’ve been told that I’m a talented writer, and am skilled at building “unusual” furniture and stuff.

KateTheGreat's avatar

@Jude I really love that about you! You’re awesome!

I love my sense of humor, I can find the humor in almost anything!

I love that I am a strong and courageous woman, that I have retained lots of love and compassion inspite of being burned a few times.

I love my brain, even if it has a mind of it’s own sometimes.

I love my quick wit and keen mind.

I love that I am not a jealous and insecure person and that I am about as real and genuine as they come.

You’ll never get mixed messages or mind games with me. ;-)

Personality wise, I would say my open mindedness and my ability to adapt to all kinds of situations without making a fuss. And getting through them nicely.
Looks wise…. well, I’m not sure. My smile has been praised a lot by people I know but I think the thing I love about myself is my good metabolism.
I can eat all the chocolate in the world and not get fat :D

I love that we can have almost anything we need because I can make it myself if it cost too much money. And I’m not that hard to look at.

Berserker's avatar

I used to think I was totally a black sheep, but I’m not. When I figured that out, I couldn’t find anything about me that’s cool. However, my lack of empathy for most people I meet has probbaly saved me from a lot of trouble, so I appreciate that, at least.

Blueroses's avatar

I love my ability to choose worthwhile friends
(wish I could do something about my family, but that’s another story)

wundayatta's avatar

Some women like me. Finally.

tranquilsea's avatar

I have a very honed bullshit meter. I can spot it from a mile away.

Physically I love my eyes. They are big and green.

I’m empathetic. I can see when someone is struggling even, or especially, when they are trying to hide it.

I love my sense of humour.

OpryLeigh's avatar

I appreciate my own sense of humour I make myself laugh even if I don’t make others laugh! I also love that I am a little bit opinionated (passionate) about a number of subjects. So many people that I encounter in my day to day life (especially at work and/or of my own age group) seem to be indifferent or too wrapped up in themselves to care about what’s going on in the world. In most cases I would rather disagree with someone’s opinion than find they just shrug their shoulders and grunt with indifference. Lastly (for the non-physical) I like that I am compassionate. I admit that sometimes I am too sensitive and I am a target for emotional blackmail because (for example) the image of a malnourished dog or a lonely old person or a scared child often has me balling my eyes out. I’d rather that than not be moved at all though.

Physically I love my lips and my skin tone (olive)!

wundayatta's avatar

Actually, I take it back. There are a few things I like about myself, but I don’t know if there’s anything I could say I love about myself. I think there are probably things I should love about myself because there are things other people love, but I look inside and I can’t say my feelings rise to the threshold of love.

I’m not sure it’s my job to love myself. That’s for other people. My job is to do what I think is right. My job is to be true to myself. But there are many things I do that are true to me but that are neither are neither lovable not likeable. These things make it difficult for me to even like much of anything about myself for very long. Everything is tainted the way something burnt can foul the taste of the entire soup

Facade's avatar

I love that…

I don’t blindly obey laws
I go to nature first instead of science (i.e. fighting cancer with the right diet before resulting to things like chemotherapy)
I believe in God
I’m naturally athletic and can still turn gymnastic tricks
I’m empathetic. I wish I could dial that back though.
I like to help people
I’m self-aware and intuitive
I don’t get intimidated easily
I’m not afraid of cosmetic surgery 50 year old me is gonna be smokin’!

Ahhh…it’s so refreshing to read some of the earlier posts. I love that I look at life with a positive attitude now. I am great at making people smile. I am a natural with children and would make an awesome mom! I am a great listener and friend. I accept my flaws and work on changing bad habits.
