Any experience with Brazilian Blowouts for hair?

Asked by Supacase (14563points) May 16th, 2011

Do they work? Are they worth it? Will it work for shoulder length hair? How long does it last? Does your hair look weird after it is gone?

Also, can it be used on chemically treated hair and can I continue to color my hair after having this done?

I know, I’m in rapid fire mode.

Yes, I had the blowout about a year ago with great results. To obtain optimal results, you’ll need to follow the post-procedure instructions to the letter, and that includes the fact that you can’t wash your hair (or really do anything to your hair) until 48 hours have passed. You’ll need to use the products your stytlist provides (or any non-sulphide products). You’ll likely enjoy the wonderfully smooth feeling and be amazed by the change. If you adhere to the instructions, your smooth tresses should last from three to six months. I realize that’s a wide time span, but there are too many unknowns to predict with any accuracy.

Color treatments should happen before you do the procedure, as you’ll not be able to color treat for several weeks following the blowout. Your hair slowly returns to the state it was in before the blowout.

Hope that helps.
