Allstate covered my rental in Canada about 10 yrs ago. But you would definetly need to check your coverage to be sure. Just call your agent for a quick answer.

You will not know for sure unless you check with your agent. Even then, I would write down the name of the agent, the date you called, the time you called and what he or she said. Better than that would be to get it in writing.

First make sure that you have confirmed with the rental company that it is permissible for you to take the car over the border. I can’t imagine it not being permitted but if you are renting from someone other than one of the “majors’ it might be a problem. Last time I rented in Buffalo while going to Toronto on business I added it somewhere on the contract just to protect myself. Probably unnecessary.

Read your own insurance policy to see what it says: that is the first thing to do. Call your agent too. You might find that you have personal liability coverage and property coverage under your own policy but not have collision damage or property damage on your policy in Canada.
Check with your agent and don’t leave this for the last minute.
