Who's more sophisticated to YOU? Fall Out Boy, Or Panic At The Disco?

Asked by Zack_In_Black (351points) April 25th, 2008 from iPhone

Clarification, I’m talking about lyrics, style, everything that a band can do.

Both bands lack any musical talent.

what’s with you and panic at the disco?
I dont mean that in a rude way or anything, just curious.
personally I can’t stand either of them,
If you want to listen to a sophisticated band you should listen to Bad Religion, the singer (Greg Graffin) is a professor at UCLA.

Zack_In_Black's avatar

Insulting Panic At The Disco is equal to insulting Me. Please don’t insult me.

Zack_In_Black's avatar

By the way, I DO listen to Bad Religion.
Sometimes they remind me of The Ramones, the weird/hazed out singing style. Sometimes you can barely hear it.

shockvalue's avatar

oh, please don’t compare the ramones to bad religion.

Randy's avatar

Panic sucks…FOB sucks….

cheebdragon's avatar

I’m insulted you would compair the ramones to bad religion, the ramones suck, its obvious that you dont really listen to bad religion.

shockvalue's avatar

And if you can’t stand to have someone differ in opinion over something as trivial as musical taste, perhaps this is not the site for you. I doubt cheebdragon meant to PERSONALLY insult you, she was stating an opinion. One I happen to agree with. But that doesn’t mean I’m insulting you

Zack_In_Black's avatar

Both Bad Religion and The Ramones have a weird singing style. Background-ish…

Zack_In_Black's avatar

Bad Religion = “infected, sorrow, you” I love Bad Religion…

shockvalue's avatar

I fail to see how that justifies a comparison between them and The Ramones. “The Monkeys” of punk.

cheebdragon's avatar

The songs they play on the radio? Wow…......

Zack_In_Black's avatar

I’ve never heard Sorrow and You on the radio.

Zack_In_Black's avatar

And I love Infected because it’s on Guitar Hero 1 =)

shockvalue's avatar

oh dear lord….

cheebdragon's avatar

haha he said guitar hero lmfao

Zack_In_Black's avatar

@cheeb: Uhh, maybe you should take a good look at my profile if you’re having a hard time processing what I’m all about.

Zack_In_Black's avatar

?....Whatever you wanna do….?

Hey here is an actual answer to your question. It doesn’t look like anyone here was really here to answer it so I will. Falloutboy seems to have more meaningful song lyrics. But I might just feel this way because I have a hard time translating Panic at the Disco’s lyrics. But that’s the way plenty of bands are (but mainly used to be) and it didn’t make them non-meaningful lyrics.

Zack_In_Black's avatar

Connor, if you look up the lyrics to the songs you will be amazed at the time and effort put into their songs. I’ve used a dictionary a couple times LOL.

Zack_In_Black's avatar

I like Panic more because the guy doesn’t sing super loud like fall out boy, and his voice doesn’t crack in almost every song. Although fall out boy has some amazing break-through masterpieces.

Zack_In_Black's avatar

By “breakthrough” I didn’t mean to sound like a fruit, I just couldn’t come up with a better word.

youknowconnor's avatar

I think the vocals from Panic is more solid and easier to listen to. But as for talent I’m not sure. The guy from Falloutboy has a higher range it seems, but in concert he can’t live up to his quality on CD. But neither do many other singers today which is always a huge disappointment.

Zack_In_Black's avatar

Did you watch the New Years Eve celebration thing in New York? He didn’t sound at all like the cd. And I agree, huge dissapointment, there are to many voice enhancing things you can do in the recording studio. Yes, Fall Out Boy does have a much wider range while singing although Brendan Urie’s falsetto…WOW. Amazing.

Zack_In_Black's avatar

I don’t like how Patrick yells in a few of his songs though…It’s horrible, but in there other songs it seems like they are a mile high above other bands.

Fallstand's avatar

I never thought either were sophisticated

youknowconnor's avatar

No I didn’t see that. But I agree, Falloutboy does have their GREAT songs but Panic seems more solid to me. Every one of their songs is at least decent. While Falloutboy has their disappointments in some songs.

Zack_In_Black's avatar

Panic At The Disco’s new album
“Pretty Odd” is more questionable than Obama’s face, they let down so many of their fans with this dissapointment.

iPod's avatar

Right on, fall out boy is wannabe

iPod's avatar

Although the guitarist is handsome.

iwamoto's avatar

i think a better question would be if either, uhm, Symphony X or Dream Theater is more sophisticated? i mean, FOB and PATD are both, uhm, well, i can’t realy think of an insult strong enough for them, but you get the idea right?

eambos's avatar

Pop rock is in no way “sophisticated” nor will it ever be. Are you sure you understand what sophisticated means? Because it seems more like you are just asking who is more talented.

wildflower's avatar

I think both bands are trying to achieve the ‘odd’ status and as it stands I think Panic at the Disco is closer to the mark, although I personally have a softspot for Fall Out Boy’s naming of songs…..it’s just too funny.

Don’t think either is sophisticated (as Eambos pointed out), but both are trying to be unique, for sure.

youknowconnor's avatar

The problem is none of you would know because you don’t like the band or maybe even the genre. If you did, you’d might pay more attention to the lyrics.

wildflower's avatar

I actually quite enjoy both…but just don’t find them to be particularly sophisticated…

youknowconnor's avatar

Than you’re like many of the people who listen to them. They just like the catchy riffs and over-played songs. And zack I actually liked panic’s new album. It’s completely different than their last so they will anger some fans inevitably but keeping the same exact sound can cause them to lose fans too. If it sounds to much like the last than some people will be sick of the same sound.

wizard's avatar

How is panic at the disco or fall out boy sophisticated in ANY way?

cheebdragon's avatar

Would nails on a chalkboard be considered music also?

wizard's avatar

I don’t get the way they are “sophisticated”.

shockvalue's avatar

I love how this is still going…

cheebdragon's avatar

They are not sophisticated, they are not even talented….....
they are flipping joke in my opinion….......I am seriously sick of all these lame ass “bands” and their “Emo-Pop” whining about their damn emotions!
If i had to choose between listening to panic at the disco for 24 hours straight, or shooting myself in the foot…......I would grab the gun and ask someone to call for an ambulance.

youknowconnor's avatar

Haha, I think you need a life for answering this many times when you don’t even have an answer for the question he was asking. Move on to a question that you care about because you obviously don’t care about Falloutboy or Panic at the Disco.

eambos's avatar

You obviously don’t need to harass people about there opinions. And no, I don’t know connor.

iwamoto's avatar

connor, you don’t actualy like that garbage do you?
