Have you ever been a groupie? If so, for whom?

Asked by wundayatta (58722points) June 15th, 2011

What makes you consider yourself a groupie? How did you end up becoming one? What is the most ridiculous thing you ever did as part of being a groupie?

If you were never a groupie yourself, then talk about someone you may have known who was a groupie.

If you can’t answer either of those questions, then talk about what you imagine would make you into a groupie.

Never been a real groupie, but, I was quite the Dead head back in the mid-to lates 70’s, 80’s early 90’s. Hardly missed a show in the state of Ca. Good times! :-)

I love music but have never been a groupie.I honestly can’t think of anyone that I would want to follow around.I never had posters on my wall either ;)

I was a roadie one time for Frank Zappa…greatest music day of my life! Nice man…such a great experience. If Elizabeth Hurley was in the US you can bet I would be her Groupie! WOOF!

My mom was a promoter for her friend’s semi-famous band in the early 90’s in Los Angeles. My dad was a bouncer for their shows. Does that count?

@redfeather

Then that makes you a love child! lol

Well, I stood outside on a cold and rainy day to hear Neil Gaiman read at the National Book Festival. Totally worth it.

And I sat in a nice, warm, dry room and heard him read as part of an authors’ series at San Jose State University. That was worth it too.

Not sure if this would qualify for “groupie,” but I had a groupie’s dream job. I worked for the country band Alabama and helped out with their now-defunct June Jam. I lived in the same town as the band members (town =11k people) and babysat one of their kids. If they ever tour again, I’ll be the first to buy a ticket.

Oddly enough, my parents have been….That was odd to see.

I’m too fickle to be a groupie. I don’t think I have ever followed a group to the point where I could be called a groupie, not even as a child/teenager.

@blueiiznh oh you aren’t going to leave us in suspense are you? Who were they into and how did they demonstrate this groupie love?
