What is (are) the best scanner apps in the Android world?

Asked by srmorgan (6773points) June 30th, 2011

I am a smartphone newbie, just got a Motorola Droid x2.

I need to scan documents that are put in front of me occasionally. These are usually columns of data, no more than a standard letter size page (8.5 x. 11) at a time. I don’t need to reformat the pages or the data, combine pages, split pages or do anything fancy.
I just need a way to get the pages on the phone so that they can be e-mailed for someone to immediately review the data.

There is the occasional page of small print. I am working with old insurance policies, looking to review costs, payments and at times the language in the policy.

I don’t mind paying $10 or $20 for an app that is going to work without a hitch.

Thanks

With 8mp, you should be able to just take a photo and email it as you would any other picture you wanted to share. I take a lot of photos of documents with mine, most with 10–12 point font, and they turn out great.

I have CamScanner, used it a few times to see how it worked and i am pleased with it, although I have to add that I am not somebody who uses this professionally.

I know this is an old question, but I gotta second Camscanner. I like PDF files, and the way that Camscanner can adjust an off-angle camera shot to a perfectly flat, squared-off page just kicks ass!
