What happened? Disabled Google Instant Search and lost my logos?

Asked by DarlingRhadamanthus (11273points) July 8th, 2011

Okay, I was attempting to disable Google Instant Search and trying to also get rid of “history” so that when I am searching I don’t get a dozen suggestions every time I am trying to type in what I am looking for…it’s really annoying.

I use Firefox 3 point (whatever it is before 4.0 which stinks, as I tried it and went back). And to the left of the search bar is a little G with it’s own search bar, right? So, I am playing around looking for the history and I click on the left arrow by the “G” and it lets me disable search history! Hooray! But noooooo….Little Miss Curious thinks, “Hmm…what is this magnifying glass on the right?” So, I clicked on it and then my Google search page immediately LOST it’s Google logo and search box leaving only a few bits here and there. I logged on to “Fluther” and FLUTHER HAD NO LOGO either and the words were scrambled and even my avatar…EVERYONE’S AVATARS had disappeared!

Why are all the logos and photos missing….what on earth did I do? All I did was click on that magnifying glass thingy to see what it did…....argh.

Okay….I just checked a picture heavy site…Ebay…NOTHING. No photos, no logos…just text. I have somehow disabled or enabled something.

I did put Adblocker as an add-on but that seemed to be working okay, until I clicked on that magnifying glass which brought up all the search engines….I clicked twice on that.

I did reboot and now, I have only text NO GRAPHICS ON ANY WEBPAGE AT ALL.

You rebooted Firefox, or the whole computer?

Try this:
Tools > Options > Web Features >
‘Load Images’ should be ticked
‘for originating web site only’ should be unticked.

If that doesn’t work, try Tools > Options > Privacy > Cache > Clear

If that doesn’t work, uninstall Adblocker. If that works, you can try reinstalling it and see if it keeps showing you images.
