Hostels in Paris?

Asked by chris (409points) May 5th, 2008

I’m going to be in paris for a couple days on two occasions this June, and I’m hoping to stay in cheap hostels. Anyone have any experience with less-than-disgusting places to sleep on the cheap?

I hope that you mean hotels and not hostels.

I mean hostels, not hotels. Why?

hostels in paris suck. ive stayed in 2 in paris and 1 in the south of france and they’re horrible. (im talking about the international youth hostel service). but at least you have somewhere to sleep, but the bed broke, so i didnt. other places in the world are better.

hostels in holland, spain, italy, and parts of central and south america are ok, not that its relevant to your question, but now ill stop.

@Mtl zack, I’d heard as much, and I have minimal expectations. The ‘less-than-disgusting’ benchmark was serious :)

Well pretty much everything Mtl said, thats why

i suggest a private hostel and not one of those international chains. the international ones want to spend the least amount of money possible. the private ones are a business, often run by a family, so they have more to lose and want you to have a good stay so they get more money. just expect to pay for soap, towels, and everything else that isnt “necesary”.

I stayed in Charles De Gaulle a few back and that was lovely.
